I too lost my taste while on Gleevec. maybe it was Sprycel??? can't remembr

which. it was awful!!! I could not even taste chocolate, my favorite thins.

it dis make me lose 15 pounds tho, which was a good thing at the time.

but the taste buds all came back after awhile. i remember posting about

awhile back

I have been reading about Gleevec side effects that some people have on this

list. I was on Gleevec for 4 1/2 yrs. and had several side effects. I

haven't read about anyone losing some of their taste sensation, however. Now

that I was taken off Gleevec, I realize that my taste buds are back to

normal.

At first, I didn't realize I wasn't tasting some of my favorite foods. Then,

I noticed I wasn't eating certain things that I used to like. I always

loved peanut butter for example, but it didn't appeal to me when I was on

Gleevec. Now, I crave it again. There are some other foods that I'm seeing

the

same thing with. When I was on Gleevec, the taste was not really there for

certain foods. Now, I notice the strength of the taste back again. It's a

minor

thing, but interesting. There are so many side effects with everything we

take. I'm on Tasigna, 800 mg., and I feel like I never know what side

effects

the future could bring. Right now, I'm ok with it. Does anyone else see a

loss of taste sensation on Gleevec?

sorry I forgot to say--I am on 600mg Tasigna now ---and I am doing

great. no side effects except weight gain.

In the beginning months on Sprycel my taste buds were strange to say the least.

I love sweet tea and always  my children said I made the best..LOL

I could not taste the sweet.. They finally told me  Mom the humming birds would

love this.

Oopsy.

Salt was just the opposite. I could almost smell salt. Most all waters tasted

too salty,

finally the cheapest bottle water at the local grocery store was the only one I

could drink.
