When I was diagnosed in February 2008, it was during the presurgery testing they were doing so I could donate a kidney to my husband. I found out that I had CML, but because of my husband's illness, I didn't really learn as much about CML as I would have normally. Now that my husband has a new kidney courtesy of our 20 year old son, I can have time to learn about CML. I read what someone says and think yea, someone else understands! As far as side effects, I will have days that I have none. Then there are days when everything hits. I do experience nausea (especially in the morning). Some days I will have swelling especially in my hands. For the past few days, my legs have ached especially around my knees. I also bruise if someone looks at me. I have never had a blood blister though. I am tired as my red blood count is low due to the medication. I feel blessed though because at my doctor's appointment last week, the final results of my bone marrow came in - the genetic part of the testing. I am genetically in remission. I already knew that I went from 150% to .15% positve for CML but this was the icing on the cake. Blood work every 4 weeks versus every 2 weeks! Thanks for all of the support.
