I was on Gleevec for 4 1/2 yrs. and had several side effects. I haven't read about anyone losing some of their taste sensation, however. Now that I was taken off Gleevec, I realize that my taste buds are back to normal. At first, I didn't realize I wasn't tasting some of my favorite foods. Then, I noticed I wasn't eating certain things that I used to like. I always loved peanut butter for example, but it didn't appeal to me when I was on Gleevec. Now, I crave it again. There are some other foods that I'm seeing the same thing with. When I was on Gleevec, the taste was not really there for certain foods. Now, I notice the strength of the taste back again. It's a minor thing, but interesting. There are so many side effects with everything we take. I'm on Tasigna, 800 mg., and I feel like I never know what side effects the future could bring.
