out of touch

Hey everybody,Just wanted to let y'all know that I'll be out of touch until possibly Monday. We just found out late last night that my grandmother is in the hospital.....she has congestive heart failure. It's not supposed to be fatal, so she should be okay (she's 82), but we still feel like we need to go see her. So, we'll be there all day and then tomorrow we have a really full day. Didn't want anyone to worry and think I was sick!Love ya,________________________________________________________________________Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com------------------------------------------------------------------------You have a voice mail message waiting for you at iHello.com:1/3555/5/_/817445/_/957619252/------------------------------------------------------------------------The Being Sick Members Lounge.....* FREE counselling via email* Daily Horoscopes* FREE psychic/tarot readings via email* Daily cartoons* Members Profiles, locations and birthdays* DAILY LIVE CHAT!!* Medical Resources, and more.... http://www.elderwyn.com/members ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"There will always be people who are better off and worse off then you. !!! Glad to hear you're doing alright! I know I missed you and

I'm sure everyone else did too!!! Acute Pyelonephritis, huh? Once you

get rid of this, will the discomfort you've been having for so long go away?

I hope so!!!! Get well soon!

Thanks for your concern everyone!

Not quite sure how I got this infection but it has been off and on since

january. Scary thing is that it's a form of the E Coli virus. I was in the

hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics and they have me on 5 different meds

now including pain killers, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, antibiotics and

corticoid steriod (unfortunately it's the kind of steriod that breaks down

muscle and makes you gain weight). I've decided to take a week to 10days off

to allow my body to fully recoop from this.

The Methylprednisolone they have me on has 40 side effects, most of which

don't make ya look too pretty. Oh well, I will hit the next round! The doc

said that working out right now would do me more harm then good and could

land me right back in the emergency room.

Best of luck to you all but know that I am right here reading every email

and rooting for all of you. I think right now is when I'd like to do my most

effective coaching to anyone that would like it simply email me! ;-)

Great to hear you will be ok and it wasn't from the creatine, 10 days is

nothing and I am sure you will rebound back no problem, you are a tiger when

it comes to this BFL. Unfortunately I can't say the same for myself as you

know I have the sprained shoulder and started a long process of therapy, well

last night I jammed my foot and sprained it, so now I cant do any physical

activity for at least 6 weeks, It has been a very frustrating year for me. I

ask you all to keep me in your thoughts and prayers that I would get through

all of this and back on track. later for now

I'm so sorry you were ill. I get kidney infections all the time so I know

how painful they can be. I even have scar tissue on my kidneys from so many

infections. Please follow your doctor's instructions so you don't have

another episode. You could end up with kidney failure if they are not cared

for properly.

Dear Lottie,

I'm sorry you had such a scary experience and had to spend your

birthday in the hospital. What a miserable place to have to be. I'm

glad you'll get to celebrate for real with your family on Sunday.

Warm birthday wishes to you!

Love,

>

> Hi everyone, I've been out of touch for a few days, just wanted

you to know why I haven't been responding to your calls and emails.

I am back and will hopefully stay out of the hospital for the near

and distant future. I went to my ENT for bronchitis, sore throat,

infected sinuses and a cough. He ordered me to use a nebulizer,

which caused some severe side effects. I began to tremble (

understand this is normal to have some), but the longer I waited for

it to go away, the longer it lasted and then my heart started to race

and beat irregularly. The ENT also said he heard a crackling in my

lung, which could mean pneumonia. The pains in my chest and arms

caused me to call the doctor after I had left his office, and after

phone calls back and forth was told to go to the hospital. I was in

the emergency room for hours and it was decided to keep me there

because of overcrowding in the hospital. About 3:00 a.m., they took

me and my bed and brought me to the heart ward because ER was overrun

with patients. I thought I would be going home, but it wasn't to

be. I actually spent my birthday in the hospital. They wanted to

rule out my having another heart attack, so I was held over for

pictures of my heart before and after the perfusion test. I told

them I almost gave up my cookies on that one.

> Everything was negative for a heart attack, but I will have to

follow up with the heart clinic next week. I don't know if anyone of

you ever had an experience like that from a nebulizer. Jimmy uses

one 3 times a day, but there is no way I could even consider doing

that again. My pulse jumped up 20 points and I was so shaky I could

barely hold a pen in my hand to sign myself in. Everywhere I went,

they could see the date and realized it was my birthday, so I was

deluged with greetings. Even one of the doctors upon entering the

door flashed a big smile and wished me a happy birthday. I wasn't

exactly smiling, but was relived that they could find no evidence of

a heart attack. The only thing left to do is an angiogram and the

cardiologist will decide if evidence warrants it next week. All of

the doctors advised me to continue digging and doing research on CML,

because as they said, " You know more than we do and we rely on you,

the patient, to educate us. "

> I didn't even tell my children I was in the hospital. They

were frantic looking for me, but I didn't think I would be in for 3

days, I thought I would be released after a few hours. You don't

want to spend a lot of time in ER. You don't know when and what you

will get to eat. They don't keep food there and the cafeteria had

long closed. It had been 11 hours since I had eaten when I began to

complain about being hungry. I had a choice of a pizza or a

sandwich. One of our sons is throwing an " 80 " party for me Sunday.

Wish you could all come and enjoy a real Cajun party.

Bless your heart Lottie!

Happy 80th! I know how it feels. I was feeling a little sick a

couple of weeks ago, then woke up feeling REALLY sick--went to the

hospital thinking I might have an infection from a blister on my foot

(I am also diabetic), but it turned out to be a urinary tract

infection, when led to pneumonia of all things, and I was in the

hospital the first week of June, a total of 6 days! It was

unbelievable.

I think we have to remember that we must guard our health! Being in

remission doesn't mean we are home free. We still must be very

careful to watch infections, watch it being in crowds of people--I

think Gleevec suppresses our immune function somehow and we are not

as immunologically strong as we were previously. We are not

invincible, unfortunately.

I wish you the best of all birthdays, and I wish I could be there

too! I love spicy food, and the descriptions of Cajun foods I've

read have made my mouth water. It is Sunday and I have to work, but

I am eating a can of s " grilled sausage and chicken gumbo " in

your honor today! Lots of love and a big hug,

VIcki
