Guest guest
Jan didn't get into hospital stays until she was 27. She quickly learned to manipulate the hospital staffs. On the other hand, the reason she is alive and with us today is largely because her Mom is a physician. There have been enough errors (well intentioned) and side effects that would have killed her. Jan seems to cope with hospitalization rather well. She gives people names by the color of their uniform. The strawberries and blueberries like it. Of course she refers to the person who comes into draw blood as the vampire, but she puts up with the vampire and with a whole lot of other difficult procedures like a bone marrow biopsy. I can't quite imagine how you do this with a young child. We were incredibly lucky to have Jan heathy through those years. Today, when I called home, she was out mowing the back yard. Of course she knows that she will be paid for that. Tomorrow, Jan goes to the transplant unit for a monthly check. I'm really hoping it goes well, but last time they put her in the hospital for a few days. I want her to be able to come to California for a month and that trip is just a week away. We've had a few scares lately and the trip isn't guaranteed. I want to hike with her and maybe get her back onto a bike. I'm currently hiking 3-5 miles after work (love the long days) with friends and Jan should be doing that with us. Guest guest
when we stayed with Nic for the T & A, they brought cots into the room for us, but we didn't use them, Nic wanted one of us in the bed with him. LOL At Deborah for his heart surgery I stayed in one of the Dr Quarters. It was an efficiency apt. Either Bob or my mom or MIL took turns staying with me. I was there 10 days. Di Hospital Stays Hi Our kids have never stayed alone in the hospital. One of us has always been there. I remember when was a baby and had croup we both camped out in the window sills of the room. It was real cold for California and I got a bad sore throat. But it was worth it. When had his VSD repair we took turns camping out in a chair. By the time he had his sleep study last winter, things had improved, and I got a whole bedroom. Dad to , Kristi, and (all Down syndrome) and (Cri du chat) Husband to C. in Mo. Guest guest
Dear Vicki, I'm so sorry to hear you have diabetes and ended up in the hospital. All of you with diabetes have to be especially careful, to avoid infections. My problem was a reaction to a nebulizer. I'm home now, and my son and his wife threw me an 80 party yesterday. It was absolutely wonderful. I had planned to do this myself and hire a hall and a caterer and when I mentioned it to my son and DIL, they went home and planned it, so when I got home, I could still have my party, but it was at their home. Our grandson from TN called and another grandson called from a ship in the gulf, so everyone was represented. Our newest arrival, that little gem of a great great grandson were there. He was like a celebrity with everyone wanting to hold him. He's a month old now and how loved he is. If you ever want to eat Cajun food, you know where to go. Ted Fontenot has come out of the closet and admitted he is a Cajun and if he lives in Lafayette, LA, you know he eats lots of spicy Cajun food. Red pepper and Tabasco are staples in every kitchen. We also cook with what we call the trinity - onions, celery and sweet peppers. That is the basis of so many of our dishes. Maybe Ted and I could have a cookoff and you are all invited. LOL. Blessings and take care, Lottie P. S. Thanks to everyone for your heartfelt birthday greetings and cards.
