Guest guest
Hi, I am still having tiredness from Gleevec. Right now, I am working part-time office job. Working 4-5 hours a day. But after work, I feel pretty exhausted. I sleep 9-10 hours each night since I take Gleevec at night. I have hard time getting out of bed in the morning. My head is still tipsy. I have to get up slowly and with a cup of coffee. Does anyone work full time (40 hours/week) while on Gleevec? I feel like it will be too much to handle if I work full time. > > Hi, > > Yesterday, Aug 12 was my 2nd year anniversary of CML's survivor. I am > in PCRU now. Guest guest
Hi , I have been on Gleevac since Dec 2002, I work in the hotel/restaurant industry and I have pretty much worked full-time since mid 2003. I consider myself to be very active and keep up with the young ones, ( I " m 56), but every now and then I just have to take advantage of a morning off and go back to bed and sleep till I wake, then my batteries are charged and I'm off again. I keep myself very busy with all sorts of interests and try to keep as busy and as positive as I can and I find most of the time I don't notice the tiredness. I also find I have to drink lots of water and that helps with the fatigue as well. I take my Gleevac in the morning, I don't know if that makes any difference or not. Good luck and believe me it does get better. Liddy [ ] Re: CML 2yrs Hi, I am still having tiredness from Gleevec. Right now, I am working part-time office job. Working 4-5 hours a day. Guest guest
Everyone is different. I think our reaction to the drug is different and varied.I was on gleevec 400 mg and had to take a break for side effects. I switched to tasigna and now am doing SOOOOO well. I thought I would need to quit work on gleevec, even with a 300 mg dose. So I sympathize with you. I did and still do, teach 40Hour+ work weeks at a high school. I am okay, but tired. Hang in there. Do that which you can and give up the rest. Your self care is most important. Blessings Barb ML2 , " cy_butterfly3 " <cy_butterfly3@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I am still having tiredness from Gleevec. Guest guest
, I am almost a year into DX. I had my spleen removed Aug. 13th 2007. It had ruptured. (From toooooo many bad white blood cells it was trying to filter.) So, although I don't remember what date I started Gleevec, I consider Aug. 13th to be my cancerversary. I too am tired. I tried taking my Gleevec in the morning - for a few days - but that made for bad days. I am better taking it a night and sleeping through the " yucky " feeling. I need 9-10 hours of sleep too. I work, but I am a consultant, so usually I make my own hours. You can bet that I try not to make appointments until 10 am! I find that I have to pace myself. I can't expect to do 100 things in the same day anymore. I am hoping to take my kids to the amusement park yet this summer. I am glad they are old enough to go by themselves for awhile... because I am going to need to just SIT and possibly even nap in the middle of the day! Ha- I'm just exhausted thinking about it! What does that say? When we had relatives come, we went to a nearby tourist town. I had my kid push me in a wheelchair while we were at the giant store, so that I would save my energy for walking around town. It worked. I made it through the day! I am sick right now though. Major sore throat. That is why I am up at 4:30 am. Ugh. Did not know that 4:30 was an AM hour. I usually sleep through this side of the clock! You will be able to do nearly everything you did before, except for interruptions to get your regularly scheduled CBC's and doctor visits. It's all important that you read and understand your restults and bring anything you question to your doctor's attention. Guest guest
--- Hello , Congratulations of your 2nd cancerversary, and being PCRU. Sorry to hear you feel so tired on Glivec, I am one of the lucky ones I only have mild side effects. I am usually in bed by 9.30pm, feeling pretty tired by then. Puffy eyes and eyebleeds are my worst problem from Glivec. I take 400mg morning and 200mg at night. If anything I have trouble sleeping, keep on waking up all the time. I'm not sure if this is due to glivec or not. Take care Sheryl In , " cy_butterfly3 " <cy_butterfly3@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I am still having tiredness from Gleevec. Guest guest
Dear Friends, It's funny, my one year anniversary was on July 17th and I did not celebrate or really even discuss it with anyone besides my husband. I felt like it was bitter sweet to even acknowledge the day. I think every day is a celebration since we were diagnosed just because we have a wealth of treatment options that CMLers did not have years ago and that other cancer patients simply do not have. Having said that, maybe one day I will figure out how I want to spend that day, in quiet reflection or down and out party mode. In any case, congratulations, , may you have many, many, more anniversaries. Love, NYC > > > > Hi, > > > > I am still having tiredness from Gleevec. Right now, I am working > > part-time office job.
