Guest guest
Hi Sande I weas dx'd June 06. I noticed a decrease in hearing last fall. I kept turning up the television and my children complained that I was saying " What did you say, speak louder or enunciate better " I figured since I was going to be 75 in April was the reason. My hearing has always been good. I finall went to the ear doctor and had the newest tests which showed I had hearing loss in both ears. I am still working and need my hearing as I work for a doctor and am on the phone most of the day. I went to see a Broadway show the week before I got my hearing aids. I could not hear half of it. If I hadn't make up my mind 2 wks previous that would have done it. The both aids are very small. My hair covers my ears and I can hear very clearly.( I told my children that they better not mutter under their breath any more because now I can hear better.) LOL My oncologist said it could be a side effect but he cannot say for sure. I think it is. Maybe I would have gotten hard of hearing but not that fast. My fiance has been on Gleevec 400 mg. daily since February, and over the last six weeks, I have noticed I must always slowly repeat everything I say to him because he is not able to hear me. This is definitely something new. He thinks it is because I have a quiet voice but I doubt that my voice is the problem since he has never had a problem with his hearing before.
