Guest guest
Dear Gioria, Some doctors get the two mixed up if they are not well informed. When a doctor saw CML on my chart about 10 years ago, he said he had an old aunt who lived with leukemia for 20 years. I asked him what kind and he couldn't tell me. At the time I was on INF and that was the be all of CML. I know a woman who lives nearby who has had CLL for over 25 years and is till hanging in. She knows nothing about her disease, nor what she takes for it and doesn't care. Her daughters are nurses and she said she just leaves everything up to them. I am wondering if she is comparing them to doctors. When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago, the nurses came and sat on my bed and asked me questions about CML. She is evidently not a take charge person like the rest of us who want to know everything. If she can live that long, well more power to her, but I call that Russian Roulette. I am so sorry to hear about your mother, it must pain you to see your mother ill with a similiar disease of the blood. Several doctors have told me that most people don't die of the disease of leukemia, but of something else. In the obituaries, I see as a reason for the death as " complications from leukemia " . They usually say that the person has been battling it for x number of years. I will add her to my list of friends I pray for, and I, too hope she doesn't suffer. God bless you both. Blessings, Lottie
