Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. ABA is known as an early intervention programme, but its principles apply equally well to any age group. Verbal behaviour is the branch of ABA that is best for targetting language (in my unprofessional opinion!) Jane on this group is using VB with her son who is older than your daughter - hopefully she will post with her experience. Tinapnhsavvy@... wrote: Hi all, I'm new here. We live in the United States. We are working towards recovering our daughter. Late diagnosis of PDD NOS we got a run around for years that nothing was wrong with her, just "delayed" "she'll catch up". I didn't know about ABA or other therapies when diagnosis was finally made and no one told me. Thank God for the internet. Learned about DAN doctors and travel out of state to see one. Going into our fourth month of MB12 injections and supplements. Have been making steady gains but my question is this....she will turn 9 next month, is it too late to try any of the ABA or other therapies that have been found helpful for others? She is very verbal but limited vocabulary and poor expressive and receptive language of course. I have been fighting, fighting with the school to educate her. More nerve wracking than I can express. I have started so late with this I don't want to miss out on anything else that may help her. Thanks Cara
Guest guest
That;s not old, if you're seeing improvements on biomedical it's vital to add in something more to push her. Biomedical can make her more able to learn but it can't learn for her. There are lots of therapies - and from the comments from other groups absolutely not too late. We're in a very similar position - finally we have a child able to learn so we're going to Growing Minds in the summer and Tom's school are cranking up the work, now he's able to complete a task they are " going for it " . > > > Hi all, > I'm new here.
