Guest guest
I'm so happy that you are seeing improvement. It's like you have said , once you get these things on the run and see fewer and fewer of them that's the time to keep the routine up no matter what. Enjoy the 4th all you can and here's to next year being "thing" free !!!! Rita Re: Salt & Clorox - Lou Hi Lou,I'm so sorry to hear about your eye! I bet that hurts! Hopefully the new salve that they gave you at the emergency room will help. During our infestation we were never bitten in the eyes. Although we could feel on occasion, bits of what felt like gravel. You know... that "gritty feeling"... We would flush our eyes with Thera Tears at night and first thing in the morning. That seemed like it would solve the problem for a while. The Clorox and Salt is something that I'm still doing. I had all of the carpets taken out of the house. We were pretty heavily infested.Since we were living on subflooring, I started bleach mopping and spraying the salts directly on the subfloors. Then one day my husband said why don't you just mix them? So I did and that saved me so much time, which was something I was short on! :)But yes... from that day on.. that killed what few stragglers we had after the Pest Control Co. spraying. I slop mop now about every 4 days. At first I was doing it either every day or every other day, then down to every 3 days. So keep the bleach and salts going and hopefully you'll get rid of this demon! Mites in the skin... I'm really not sure if we did Lou. I know I could soak myself down with Baby Oil or Cocoa Butter or something greasy afer a long soak in the tub and then a while later I could "roll off" what felt like little granules. They were bright white in color. It could have been eggs or It could have been just dried flaky skin... I truly don't know. We knew from the beginning that whatever it was that we had, we could not let them reside on us. We were takng 3-4 showers a day and slathering unappealing creams, salves and lotions all over us. Then Ray suggested using "Original Listerine" to spray on all over before you take a shower. We started doing that and it really helped. My husband swears by the Gold Bond Medicated Lotion (Green Bottle). He rubbed this all over him before bedtime, and they wouldn't bother him. Another thing we did was to take a q-tip and either using Vaseline or Aquaphor, rub this just right on the inside of our nostrils and our ears. If you feel any of them in your sinuses, then gargle with the Listerine AFTER you put the salve in your nose. They'll get stuck in the salve trying to vacate! It's a stange feeling...Hope you have a great 4th! >> thank you so much trlyblest. Did you have to do it more than once. Tonight is the first night I have walked into back bedroom and not gotten bit. I did my car today also. Now if I can just get them out of my skin. I went to eye dr. yesterday. I think I must have gotten bit in eye because I thought i had infection and dr. in urgent care gave me antibiotic salve, then I got worse and wnt to emergency and I was given a different antibiotic salve. I was in so much pain and my eyelid was spasming. Eye dr. took a look and said no infection, but cornea was extremely irritated and salve was making it worse. Finally today the pain subsided and no spasming. I can't believe this hell. I lost my job due to downsizing but I don't know if i could have worked and fought this much longer anyway. I am raising my 4 yr. old granddaughter and she has only had a few bites where I have been covered. Did you have them in your skin?> lou>

Guest guest
I know it may sound a little stupid to ask such a question in a perfumery group but...do you like to wear perfumes? I ask it because I don't, not really. I love all the experimental side of the perfumery - mixing oils, tincturing, infusing, smelling new scents etc... but I don't like very much wearing a perfume and certainly not the " modern " ones because I feel like it is not " me " . Does it sound strange? Bella from Tel Aviv *********************************************************** Hi Bella! Not a silly question at all. Ironically, since I started NP, I have pretty much stopped wearing perfume on a daily basis. I used to spritz on my synth stuff every day religiously, like a fine deoderant. But since I started actually making perfume, I tend not to wear it except for special occasions or if I am " studying " it. Maybe a case of wanting to keep the nasal palate clean. Or maybe just the realization that I don't appreciate the perfume if I wear it every day. I don't think this is too uncommon with NP'ers. I believe our own List Mom eschews scented things. And I remember Mandy Aftel telling me that she doesn't generally wear perfume unless it's something she's working on. Patty

I use unscented soaps, used to wear synth stuff daily (or at least with every shower, like some kind of ritual), and now only use natural perfumes (and deodorants, etc.) of my own making. I'm gonna back Adam up om this.... I think once you realize about scent.... You become somewhat more discretionary about it.... Now...I've been off work for a while.... But there was one person, with her sillage...useda drive me nuts... Was the reason I had no problem, understanding the term....when I first ran across it... Tears some days...in her wake.... Guest guest
Hi Bella, An excellent question. It brought to light for me that others also do as I do - I never knew that til now. When I was talking to a friend about my perfume stuff recently, she said, " How come I never smell perfume on you? " And it was funny because I'd never thought about that. Well, as with others, I like to wear my stuff on special occasions - okay, I LOVE to wear it on special occasions. And other than that, I guess I must like to have my " palate " clean so that I can smell what I'm doing. I never even thought about it -- it wasn't a conscious choice. It must have just happened that way - automatically. Thanks for asking such a great question! Andrine

Not a silly question at all. I seldom walk out of the house without a light spritz of perfume. It makes me feel pulled together along with makeup and outfit. Recently, I may not have the time to get myself pulled together, but I do have time to dab on perfume. I must have at least 6 different sample bottles in my purse that allow me to pick and choose. It's also a great way for me to evaluate " on the fly " when my nose is fresh. I only have a couple of commercial perfumes at home. I enjoy them from time to time, but they do make me sneeze. l'hitra'ot and enjoy a cafe hafoukh for me, please! Maggie
Guest guest
Hi Bella and all, You really got me thinking... I stopped using perfumes because I wanted to feel fresh and have a clear mind. So that I can sense all the smell around me, flowers, places, people. It is really funny that when you wear a perfume, it is sort of a cover up of your own nice human skin scent. But sometimes, I use my own perfumes so that people can sense it and give me their opinion. This way I am sure if the perfumes are good or bad creations. Great question. Guest guest
I am so lucky to be in genetic remission in such a short period of time. For some reason, though, I still get nervous with each blood test. I have " graduated " to a blood test every 4 weeks and a doctor's visit every 8 weeks. Because my blood draw this week was a time I didn't have a doctor's appointment, I called the office and requested a copy of my labs (I like to keep them). My white blood count has been 4.8 or 4.9 for several weeks now (probably about 4 months). This time it went up to 5.9. I realize that this is still in the normal range and this is probably silly, but I worry because it started to increase and went up a point or so in a 4 week time period. What stops it from going up and continuing to go up until I have 95,000 white blood cells again? Does the gleevec keep it at a safe level or does this mean the gleevec isn't as effective because my counts didn't remain about the same this time? I would ask the doctor, but I don't see him until toward the end of September and I am probably making a mountain over a mole hill. My husband had a rejection episode with his tranplanted kidney last week and I think I have become paranoid for both of us. Thanks for all of the help. Guest guest
Hi, I am trying to understand . If I send a brand new email to iodine , it seems to never show up on the group. But if I hit reply to an email and then change the subject line after then it shows up.... is there some secret to just starting a brand new email??? Guest guest
Hi ,One thing to check, is the e-mail your computer sends from the same as your e-mail? I created an e-mail for , but since my computer sent from my normal e-mail, none of my e-mails went through unless I replied like you are doing. So I just put my regular e-mail into , and now it works fine. Donna in IL Hi,I am trying to understand .If I send a brand new email to iodine , it seems to never show up on the group.
