Guest guest
Dear Tammy, I don't suppose it really matters what day you " adopt " as your cancerversary. I'm sure there are people who were adopted who don't know what their real birthday really is. Congratulations, you were off to a really rough start and I hope things got better for you. I think as the shock wears down, we can begin to accept our situation as it is, we have a fairly rare disease, but there is always hope. There are new therapies emerging on the market and in the pipe line. Earlier in the week, we read that a doctor in Scotland is working on a cure in her lab. The article said it was as close as finding your lost car keys. Some analogy, but it's also a very hopeful sign. You found out you could live without a spleen. Many of us had our tonsils out when we were youngsters, but I was an adult and was hospitalized much longer than a child, but I found out I could live without my tonsils. Next came my uterus and then my gall bladder. I know a woman with no colon and no bladder, but that doesn't stop her. She is on her ninth husband. LOL. I'm not looking for a husband, but I sure am looking for more time. As K says, " she isn't finished yet " . It's a good slogan to adopt. I don't know if you ever read her story, but she is a remarkable person and she posts here. Stay well, Tammy and continue to post your positive messages. For someone who may be hanging on to a thread, your message may be just what they need to hear to get through that day. I don't know anyone who isn't tired, but I know there are exceptions, but we all want to stay on top of things and keep moving. Blessings on having achieved those forward looking anniversaries we all revel in. It's a good sign for all of us, Lottie
