hiya!

today was kickboxing day so this morning i thought i would give meaghan

white another try... she is the instructor on bodywisdom media's

'challenging workouts' dvd. there are two cardio kickboxing routines on

this disc... the menu said that each was 20 mins long. so, i thought i

would do both and there is another menu item that automatically programs

both of the workouts for you, with one warmup and one cooldown for a total

of 40 mins. well, what a surprise when i finished the workout and it ended

up being only 30 mins long! argh! i really hate it when the literature for

the dvd (or heck, the dvd itself) says that a workout is 'x' mins long and

it turns out to be shorter. that is the 2nd time that has happened to me in

2 days!

anyway, i liked the workout ok... it wasnt as hard as i thought it was going

to be, but that was OK. i didnt have alot of time this morning so the

short workout suited me ok, i guess. the only issues that i had with it

was, first, meaghans screechy voice... i had to turn the volume on the tv

waaaay down since her voice was so high and squeeky and loud. she sure

does look purty though (apparently she used to be a model) and while she did

a good job leading the workout, she just could not cue left and right

properly. this peeved me because i had to change her left into my right

(and her right into my left) and i figured that if i could do it, then as an

instructor she should have been able to do that too. i burned around 200

cals in this short workout so it was fine... kickboxing always burns a ton

of cals!

i felt like working out a bit more this evening so i thought that i would

make it 'hokey workout' night and put in a moldy oldie with brenda

dygraff -- a dance workout done to 70's disco music. this one probably

would have been fun but i just cannot seem to do dancey workout videos! im

more of the athletic type i guess. i thought that brenda was cute and kind

of amusing and the music was fun but it wasnt long before i turned this one

off. someone else might like it alot! it just wasnt for me. so i then

put in 'country line dancing aerobics' for a laugh and i didnt last 5 mins!!

LOL. yet another dancey workout that does not suit me at all. i felt

like a complete dork while trying to do both of these workouts! im so glad

that noone was around to see me...LOL

well, finally, trusty michelle dozois came to my rescue with her '10 minute

solution carb burner' (thanks donna!). i did the first two 10 min

segments -- a steady state floor aerobics routine followed by a kickboxing

segment. these were good and fun little workouts for me, and while not

overly challenging, i managed to knock off another 100 cals in this short

time, so it was all good. i started to do the third segment of the workout

but it contained some leaping and jumps and such and i just didnt have the

energy to do those... so i fast forwarded to the next segment which was a

bootcamp routine and again i thought that i wasnt in the right mind for

that. the last segment was weight training and i didnt want to lift

weights today, or else i would have been fine with doing that segment. that

was ok though, because after the false starts and trying to decide what to

do, i had used up my entire hour. oh well. i was wishing that she had

included a sixth segment containing stretches or yoga on this disc, but she

didnt... so oh well and ::shrug:: again.

im feeling stiff and a bit sore tonight.... the right side of my neck is all

pinched again! ugh! i swear that i must sleep in some weirdo position

because each morning it feels a bit worse. now it seems to be affecting the

trapezius on my right side and my right shoulder. im having a bit of

trouble with the arm movements in some of my cardio workouts because of

this... i felt the soreness quite a bit while doing the boxing punches

today and repeatedly lifting my arms over my head during other aerobic moves

is a bit painful. so, even though tomorrow is supposed to be a full body

strength workout, i doubt that i will be doing that due to this injury.

will probably end up doing some cardio that doesnt require arms, like leslie

sansone's 4 mile walk, or something similar. maybe petra kolber and george

foreman... i dunno. will have to see how i feel tomorrow night.

tomorrow im meeting our fellow '' friend, lisa, for lunch!

(yes, i promise to have a salad at McD's (280 cals) instead of my usual

turkey blt sandwich (510 cals) or hamburger happy meal (470 cals) ...LOL)

im so looking forward to meeting you lisa! it is so cool that we live so

close together and have met each other on this list!!! lisa has

expressed an interest in taebo so im going to give her two of billy's older

basic videos (live basic and total basic 4) so she can see if she likes it

or not.

:*carolyn.
