Guest guest
Hello I just got my new reconditioned vitamix with the 48 oz container. I haven't done alot with it yet. I really wanted to love it. Today I tried making a soup of the main ingredients of chicken broth and eggs. Three cups broth and 3 eggs. The eggs cook up and thicken the chicken broth. It did not go well. Almost immediately the liquid started spewing out of the lid, mostly from the pouring spout but everywhere. I'm sure a at least a cup must have come out. I am not happy. Should that be happening? I am thinking I regret getting the 48 oz container. If this is going to be happening I want to exchange for the larger container. Can I do that? This is clearly not how I wanted to spend almost $400. Guest guest
Hi Sherry,I have the 64oz container and have not had this problem. Love the Vitamix - it's a dream to use - quick processing and easy clean up. In one clean up I added too much water and the sudsy water came out of the spout. Possibly you had too many ingredients in the container.Jan From: Sherry <slloyd1@...> Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 6:45 PM Subject: Re: New vitamix I don't know. I did start out on low and went up. I even went back and tried with just water to see what I was doing wrong. I love the machine in general. I'm just not sure what is going on with perhaps the smaller continer. > > > Hello I just got my new reconditioned vitamix with the 48 oz container. Guest guest
My daughter got hers with the 48oz last year. She has never had that problem. I would suggest trying a few things in it to see if there is a pattern. Be careful with the fill line amount. Try some creamy stuff. My 48 oz is on it's way…..hoping there are no problems!!I like the 64 but rarely fill it. I think the 48 oz will be easier to use and clean with the wider bottom of the container. We shall see! There is plenty of trial and error on this site. You are in the right place for assistance. Usually someone else has had the problem and figured it out!!Hang in there!!On May 27, 2012, at 6:45 PM, Sherry wrote: I don't know. I did start out on low and went up. Guest guest
I make soup in my 48 oz container all the time.. I would suspect you tried to make too much at once.. Don't forget you have to have some room in the container for the spinning of the liquid if it is too close to the top once it picks up speed it will splash up onto the lid of the container and if it is too close will start to leak out.. I did that once when I was trying to clean the container after making a sticky substance and over filled the container and once it starting going it started to spurt out soapy water... after that I paid more attention to the direction that came with it about total volumn to use ... Hope you figure it out quickly... -
Guest guest
I suspect that is probably the problem. I guess I was thinking you could fill it up to the 48 oz line and it " COULD NOT " run over. Wrong!! I didn't see any directions anywhere on the total volume to use. Are there some hints and tips that I missed. I made frozen yogert with peaches last night. It did an awesome job on that. I do like the machine. I got the 48 oz container thinking most things I would be making would be a lesser amount and getting it out of the container would be easier since it is broader and shorter. I'm considering also purchasing a separate 64 oz container down the road. Sherry > > I make soup in my 48 oz container all the time..
