Guest guest
I had no BMB since being in CCR in 2006, I am on 400mg gleevec since dx in 2005, with Kaiser Permanente. I asked last year the cml specialist I see in Paris and she also told me they are not doing BMBs anymore for people in CCR with stable (or improving) PCR results, and no history of resistance with gleevec or extra mutations. In your case it may depend on why you are on Sprycel, if it was because of resistance with gleevec it may make sense to check with the BMB on a regular basis, as it will catch mutations that the PCR test won't see. Guest guest
Thanks, Marcos. You may be right about that. I lost resistance to Gleevec but didn't have any mutations that I know of. I was getting BMBs fevery 3 months rom the time I was diagnosed in 2001 until a year ago and I was in CCR for quite some time. I certainly won't be lackadaisical about it and will get one in September at the 9 month mark. Guest guest
Hi , There are as many different opinions on this as there are doctors. My personal feeling is that if you've been in a stable CCR or better, with no history of mutations or clonal evolutions (this is why early BMB's are so important to have) then you really don't need to have BMB's that often after (if ever). I know that some of the big doctors will still do them every 18 months to 2 years after a person is PCRU but there are also big doctors who don't do any after PCRU. Again from my personal perspective, I've chosen not to have anymore unless there's a dramatic change in my PCR trend. I guess it's a very personal choice with no real right or wrong answer. Take care, Tracey > > Hi Everyone, > > I have been PCRU on Sprycel for more than a year and have been getting BMA's every 6 months. I managed to get my next scheduled BMB in July changed to September but have to have one then. Bristol Meyers recently told Sprycel trial docs that they could use their own judgment about when to do BMBs instead of strictly doing one every 6 months. > > Any thoughts on this? > > > >
