Hi Guys,

Here is what it says on Lottie's Gleevec website (Lottie, you've done

it again!)

" Talk to your doctor and/or nurse about other medications you may be

taking. Taking Gleevec with medicines such as ketoconazole; Tylenol®

(acetaminophen); Coumadin® (warfarin); rifampin, St. 's wort

(hypericum perforatum); erythromycin and Dilantin® (phenytoin) may have

an effect on how these drugs work, and these drugs may affect how

Gleevec works.

Patients should also avoid grapefruit juice and other foods that may

have an effect on how Gleevec works. Tell your doctor if you are taking

or plan on taking iron supplements. "

Pass it on--hope it helps.

drugs are on the list of drugs that we are not to take on Gleevec.

Perhaps even on Sprycel. When I had a lung infection, I showed my

doctor the list of drugs I couldn't take and he threw up his hands and

called MDACC and said he didn't know how to treat me and then called me

and said the same thing. I think Zithromax was one of them. Here is

the official web site, but I didn't see what drugs are on the list.

Good job, Lottie. However, there is one thing I'd like to comment on. Tylenol

has gotten a bad rap in relation to Gleevec and CML in general. A number of

years ago (prior to 2001) a male CML patient severely overdosed on Tylenol over

a period of time and did in his liv er. However, if you stay within proper

dosage Tylenol is not a problem. I'm reporting this again because of all of the

people who have muscle pain and who need as many options as possible for relief.

Cheers,
