Guest guest
When I first got my Vitamix I was adding all sorts of new items to my daily usage and glass straws were part of the discussion. Found this website and bought a set. When I am not at work, use these at home. Use tervis ones at work with the lid on. http://glassstraws.com/index.htm Best item was the brush to clean the straws, going to order another one. the quest for health and being environmentally conscious continues. Guest guest
I use glass straws too. I got mine from ebay in several different sizes. Not only are regular straws wasteful, but they contain dyes, plastic, and other things I prefer not to use. I have been using the same glass straws daily for years, and havent broken a single one. I love them! I drilled a hole in a mason jar lid, and I keep a huge jar of water with me at ALL times, filling the jar often-I insert the straw through the hole so it isn't clinking glass on glass all the time, lol. I find that with the straw, I am more inclined to frequently sip on my water, so I get more than my daily need of water and stay well hydrated. > > When I first got my Vitamix I was adding all sorts of new items to my daily usage and glass straws were part of the discussion. Guest guest
I just checked my ebay history to see if it was still there who I ordered from, but it has been years since I got mine-they have held up so I havent needed more-the history is no longer there on ebay. I will do some more poking a bit later to see if I can find them-I was really happy with this seller. > > > > When I first got my Vitamix I was adding all sorts of new items to my daily usage and glass straws were part of the discussion. Guest guest
Not trying to bum you all out, but on a recent episode of The Revolution on ABC, a dermatologist discussed the use of straws. She said that while they will save your lipstick, they will cause fine line creases above your lip due to the constant puckering action of straw use. Can't a girl have any fun anymore? If I were to use a straw, I'd much rather it be a cool looking glass one, though. Fran In a message dated 6/7/2012 7:33:17 A.M. Guest guest
You know, that is funny (funny interesting, not funny haha), I had just commented the other day to husband on the fact that I seem to be seeing more and more women using straws for every drink whether on tv or out and about here. In cans (soda), glasses, water bottles, etc etc. I then saw some stars on tv using straws and wondered out loud if it was becoming popular because certain often viewed people are using them for whatever reason. I keep a few around for if anyone is sick, but otherwise mostly drink from glass or my water bottle. I would never put a straw in a VM smoothie, well not if I had to then clean that said straw. Guest guest
I do use a straw with my smoothies, but immediately rinse it in the faucet, and use a quick brush to it...I got in the habit of using a straw with smoothies when I bought them at Blenders, and never gave it another thought until now, that I really didn't need to! Guest guest
I live with clutzy people (4 broken glasses in the sink in the past 2 months) so I went with these stainless straws http://www.etsy.com/shop/MulledMind?ga_search_query=stainless+steel+straw & ga_vie\ w_type=gallery & ga_ship_to=ZZ & ga_min=0 & ga_max=0 & ga_search_type=handmade & ref=sr_ga\ llery_5 I don't know if anyone would have an issue with the metal part, but I've been drinking out of stainless bottles for years so these don't bother me at all. > > > > When I first got my Vitamix I was adding all sorts of new items to my daily usage and glass straws were part of the discussion. Guest guest
Very interesting. Is the edge of the stainless straw pretty smooth? I could not seem to find that for sure they are made in the USA? Guest guest
Yeah, I would say that they're nice and smooth. The owner of the shop, , makes them herself right in Massachusetts so she can customize the thickness and length if you contact her if a size you want isn't listed. On top of that, she offers a lifetime guarantee. I have two smoothie straws and 4 standard. I love them because I don't have to worry about dropping them and they're very easy to clean. I usually just rinse them out immediately and let them dry in the strainer. > >> do you have a favorite vendor on ebay for them?
Guest guest
Thanks, I would like to try these straws. Nice to know I don't have to worry about breaking one.
