Thank you . I'm picturing a mason jar full of banana slices, all stuck

together? Do they break apart easily, and how do you get to the ones as the

bottom ie they don't stick at the bottom, but shake loose?

The tops don't rust?

Smiling. I get it. I could get some wider openings or squares as well.

Plastic is sort of like sugar: EVERYWHERE. Until it becomes second nature,

it is hard work to free yourself of it.

I just purchased a food saver.... did not think about the health risk of plastic :(

I actually discovered I had an ALLERGY to certain plastics and silicone years ago, so for me, it was a necessity to try to eliminate plastics as much as possible...and it is IMPOSSIBLE, to say the least! I have wide mouth mason jars that have certainly made it easier though. I not only store stuff in mason jars, but I also cook stuff in them in both my solar oven and slow cooker. I have two large cabinets in my kitchen dedicated strictly to glass jars, lol.

You can vacuum seal glass jars with your FoodSaver. Mine came with attachments to do that.Sent from my iPadHDOn May 13, 2012, at 7:36 PM, Dennis <dilberthtml@...> wrote:

I am thinking of your cracker recipe where you stir the ingredients in

each jar. Is there a reason why you don't put all ingredients in the big

VM container, mix on low speed then just pour in each jar?

layer rounds of pizza crust with sauce and desired toppings, various soups,

stews, casseroles, and our ALL time favorite, " dessert in a jar " , in which we

layer things like brownie mix with raspberries, orange marmelade, etc.

Somewhere, I have a file I made of various recipes, and I will see if I can find

it and post it.

what am I doing wrong...had a hard time getting out of jar and could not cut

them very well..like when cut about half through they just swished down..I

know I put more water in then you said and probable let them cool too long.

Do you ever add more water that you said on the video. It was so thick that

I added more..help.. B

Re: Freezing without Plastic

Yes, there is a reason I don't mix it in the Vitamix-it is sort of a sandy

mixture, a lot like making a sandcastle, and I find that mixing it in the

jars makes it easier to unmold them after they are cooked. I have mixed it

in the Vitamix, but the mixture was so thick it was hard to get it all out

of the container too, lol.

I am using wide mouth 8oz jars and the water up to the top where the lid

screws on to the jar. simmering on high for 3 to 4 hours..will use more

water next time...thanks B

Re: Freezing without Plastic

I sometimes use more water, sometimes less, depending on how crunchy/crispy

I want that batch of crackers to be (denser batter makes a more dense

cracker, more water makes a crispier cracker. You should unmold them from

the jars while they are still warm-just cool them until you can comfortably

hold the jar without it being too hot. Sometimes I need to run a butter

knife around the jar to loosen them a bit, but mostly they will just pop

right out of the jar (I DO hope you are using a wide mouth jar)? If they

are squishy when you go to slice them, then they weren't cooked enough. How

long did you cook them for, and did you have water coming up halfway up the

side of the jars?
