Guest guest
Hi Morie! Welcome to our group! I am so glad to hear from you. The only for certain interaction that I know of that reacts with Gleevec, and that we should avoid is grapefruit and grapefruit juice--and I can't remember exactly why it is that we should not eat them. I believe it affects the blood level of the drug somehow, but I can't remember if it increases or decreases it. I know the detailed info regarding this is in the drug insert that comes with the drug, so you could probably find it on-line someplace. Just Google Gleevec Grapefruit and see what you get?! There may be other foods that people have had problems with, but I am not sure what they are at the moment. I have had some days when my tummy seems to react with everything I eat after I take my Gleevec, I get a tummyache in one particular spot that just lasts on and on, and other days when it feels just fine. I think it depends on lots of things--how well rested I am, whether or not I am fighting off a bug, whether or not I have gotten time to have all my meals that day, whether I am stressed out more than usual--it just seems that we are very multifaceted creatures and only the Lord knows why things affect us they way they do! Best wishes, again welcome to the group and God bless you!
