Guest guest
Hello ,To me it would depend on whether you were making him things to taste good to him in his last days, or if you were trying to "beat the cancer". If the later, I could not make a recommendation except to seek the advice of an alternative doctor trained in oncology with a good cure rate. I hear a lot about this guy: http://www.dr-gonzalez.com/index.htmIf the former, I'd ask him what he likes (taste wise). You can blend just about anything into liquid - I have an acquaintance who borrowed my extra 5000 machine for her husband who's jaw was wired shut because of a motorcycle accident - he blended pizza in the Vitamix! :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Jul 26, 2012, at 12:21 PM, wrote: Hello Everyone, I have a longtime friend who has stage 4 cancer. Guest guest
> You can blend just about anything into liquid Lea Ann's right. One of my sons had his mouth wired shut for most of 7 years while his head/bones/face was rebuilt after a dog bite and part of whatever the rest of us were having went straight into the Vitamix along with some appropriate liquid (juice, broth, water, whatever), if necessary, and got whizzed into the consistency that he could get up through a straw. He sometimes wasn't allowed to suck on anything but could swallow so he got bird-fed with a turkey baster, but the consistency is easy to adjust with the Vitamix....it was that or a feeding tube, which would have been more restrictive yet. He had a younger brother at the time, not quite on solid food, so I'd take out a bit for the toddler when it was still at the 'lumpy' stage, then set the machine on high for the metalmouth kiddo's portion. So if it's taste/flavor you're after, you're in easy territory. SJ
Guest guest
I am very sorry to hear about you friend. I am a cancer survivor and I can say cancer sucks. I had throat cancer so I was on a liquid diet for many months. Swallowing was very difficult so it was imperative for me to consume as many calories as possible for each dining, if you can call it that. My appetite was not all that great either, but my goal was to consume 500 calories 4 times a day. It was extremely difficult to do this but I had to do this to survive. My suggestion would be to find ingredients that provide a lot of calories because it is hard to consume too many calories with cancer. If that is not possible look at Carnation 560 meal replacements. This drink is fortified and has 560 calories in on 8 oz drink and I survived on it for almost 4 months on them. Guest guest
I am an ovarian cancer survivor for 10 years. My biggest piece of advice is to stay away from ALL sugar and artificial ingredients. Eat organic food as much as possible, especially grapes and apples and carrots and garlic, again, all organic. This is very important. Cancer feeds on sugar, so stay away from it like it was the plague. > > Hello Everyone, > > I have a longtime friend who has stage 4 cancer.
