Guest guest
Hi Barb, Thanks for the e-mail. I'm not doing good on Tasigna. I developed a bad abdominal pain on the second day of treatment. I thought it was something I had eaten, but it just got worse. I'll see my onc Monday and see what he says. Guest guest
Jeanie, Did your ONC do an EKG prior to beginning and is he monitoring your bloodwork? What dosage did he start you on? Are you taking it on an empty stomach ( no food 2 hours before or 1 hour after)? I could NOT take the 800 dosage. I had to break and begin again at 400. It is working well and at this level, I don't have many side effects besides water retention. What does the pain feel like? I don't want to scare you, but I have heard of folks who start this at a high dosage, and they have some ill effects. If it gets to the point you can't stand it, ( or maybe before) I would go to an urgent care..... don't wait.... just in case. Let me know how you are doing okay? Guest guest
Hello Jeanie and group, i developed extreme stomach pain on day 4 of tasigna and was hospitalized on day 6th. I had critically high pancreatic and liver enzyme levels. So be sure not to " try and tough it out " . My local onc said you can die from elevated pancreas levels very easily. Also thanks to those who responded to my cry for help. I am looking into clinical trials all around the country. Just wish they were closer to home. Guest guest
Hi Barb and thanks for the input. Yes, I had a baseline EKG done and will get one every week. It's only been 6 days now and they will do blood test tomorrow. The pain is bad, so I will have to have this checked out. It could meds related or something else. Advil seems to help it, but not anti acids. I don't want to quit the meds, but will see what the onc says. Thanks again, Jeanie<3 In a message dated 9/27/2008 1:58:05 P.M. Guest guest
Thanks Debra; wow! does that mean I might have to go off Tasigna? They will test my blood tomorrow; hope they find something that will help the pain. Blessings, Jeanie<3 In a message dated 9/27/2008 9:13:57 P.M. Guest guest
Jeanie If it gets worse - don't hesitate to do the hospital today. Pancreattis can cause not only death but permanent damage to the pancreas. Please, just don't wait if you doubt anything. I am posting the info on panceatitis at the Mayo clinic here. Read and regard. I hope you are good until you see your onc tomorrow. Please let us know how you are doing. I am worried about you. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pancreatitis/DS00371/DSECTION=symptoms <http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pancreatitis/DS00371/DSECTION=symptoms\ > Love Barb > > > Hi Barb and thanks for the input. > Thanks again, > Jeanie<3 > In a message dated 9/27/2008 1:58:05 P.M.
