Forgot to mention - hypothyroid can also cause people to retain weight. HIGHLY recommend the book, "Stop The Thyroid Madness" http://www.StopTheThyroidMadness.com for anyone with ANY thyroid condition…On Jun 15, 2012, at 9:11 AM, Lea Ann Savage wrote:

Hello Theresa,There are no stupid questions (except the one that is unasked!)1. I was hoping to loose weight which I am not. any tips?/links (look for the folder titled, "Weight Loss"Also, I love this book (helped me lose "those stubborn last 5 lbs.), "Eat Fat Lose Fat" - eating this way also gave me more energy. That being recommended as something to look into, I don't believe that there is "ONE RIGHT" diet for everyone - look into "Metabolic Typing". People hold onto body fat for different reasons. ONE of them is toxicity. Out bodies store toxins in fat as a way to prevent the toxins from damaging our organs: http://www.wellnessresources.com/weight/articles/why_toxins_and_waste_products_impede_weight_loss_-_the_leptin_diet_weight_l/http://suite101.com/article/cleansing-to-lose-weight-a20328http://www.fitnessatlantic.com/toxins_stalling_fat_loss.htmSometimes losing weight can cause toxins to release (and you have to deal with the symptoms):http://www.newser.com/story/109961/weight-loss-may-unleash-bloodstream-toxins.htmlhttp://caloriecount.about.com/forums/weight-loss/fat-loss-cause-toxin-release http://www.tomvenuto.com/asktom/toxins_in_fat_cells.shtmlWhen I lost those last 5 lbs - I had symptoms of toxins leaving my body (skin rashes and other symptoms) - to counter the toxin dumps, I 1) sopped them up with zeolitehttp://www.zeohealth.com/?LS12422, 2) drank plenty of water 3) began dry skin brushing (Google that), and 4) do 2 minutes of lymph bouncing per hour on my rebounder, 5) do coffee enemas periodically (Google that), and 6) am going to buy a far (and near) infrared sauna.Food Sensitivities and Hidden Food Allergies are another source of weight retention - I lost weight when I removed gluten and sugar from my diet. Here is the book that got me to try eliminating common allergenic foods: (look for the book on this page called, "Diet Wise" - http://blenderlady.com/misc-information/ )2. I have a fruit smoothie in the morning which I think may be why, after all who would really all that much fruit in one serving? I use a strawberry coconut keifer, any apple peelings my kids havne't eaten and a full orange. so I am cutting down but any other suggestions?(see above)3. for lunches I have been taking leftover salad and making a veggie juice but find my self having to add so much salt and extra tomatos to make this drinkable. Why couldn't I just eat the salad? (I actually hate salads so this works for me but it seems silly)Not silly at all! Look up, "Benefits of Blending vs. Chewing" here:/links4. I just get the impression although healthier I am eating twice as much (not calorie wise although I eat three times as much since it is low cal and it takes a bunch to make a full drink) and not getting as filled up.(see number one above) For ME, increasing the healthy fats in my diet helped tremendously to keep me feeling full. Additionally, I need more animal protein to feel full (and dark meat over white meats) This advice works for ME because I am a, "Fast Oxidizer" - a "Slow Oxidizer" would probably gain weight with this advice. Fast vs. Slow Oxidizers are the two main metabolic types - something to Google - here are some of my favorite sites on this topic:http://www.bloodph.com/http://www.metabolictyping.com/http://altmedicine.about.com/od/popularhealthdiets/a/MetabolicType.htmFast Oxidizer Diet Plan - http://drlwilson.com/Articles/fast%20diet.htm - I do NOT follow all of his plan at all, only some of his info. works for me...Slow Oxidizer Diet Plan - http://drlwilson.com/articles/slow%20diet.htm - Dr. 's info. on detoxification is pretty good - loads of info. on his site - not all of it do I follow or agree with. To succeed in gaining health (which automatically means weight loss :-) follow the axiom, "Know Thyself".Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<:)))><On Jun 14, 2012, at 4:33 PM, Theresa G wrote:I am new to vitamix.1. Not doing green smoothies just becuase right now I am at a good level with my coumadin and want to continue to eat the same right now to avoid more frequent trips for blood draws.Am I going about this all wrong? Also is it true you will loose your ability to digest if all you eat is smoothies?Theresa
