Guest guest
Hi there, Well, I don't have an answer yet from BMS or my doc. However, I did also communicate with a good friend who is on Sprycel who has pleural effusion issues, too. He reminded me that although I take 20 mg lasix a day that water retention is still an issue. He said to cut back to under 1000 mg sodium per day and said he thought we'd see a weight reduction. I'm going to try that. I bought a salt substitute to help. The substitute is potassium chloride so it helps replace the potassium we lose through lasix and other diuretics. A twofer! Also, when I was on Weight Watchers, I ate basically frozen dinners because it was the easiest way to calculate my diet points and get a balanced meal. However, the two bad things about that are HIGH sodium content and LOW fiber content. Both of those can add up to weight gain. So, I'm skipping the prepared meals now and cooking my own high fiber, low fat, low sodium meals -- entree, vegetables and fruit. It's harvest season and I just can't see skipping all those wonderful things coming in from the fields and orchards. Hope this helps you, too. I'll continue to seek answers and pass them along. Will keep in touch about my own progress, too. Cheers!
