Guest guest
Hello jbag2008,I apologize for the delay in responding - I had to write to Vitamix to find out exactly how much information I am allowed to reveal - I got the go ahead to send the following: From now on, the 5200S will be the Costco "on the shelf" machine. It will run $379.99 and have the full 7-year warranty. It will come with the 64 oz. container, and will have NO cookbook (and NO coupon to be redeemed for a cookbook like the 5200C used to have). It will have the "Getting Started Guide" (which contains a few recipes in each section and shows you how to dry chop, wet chop, make ice creams, make soups, etc.) When a demonstrator does a Road Show in a Costco, they will be selling the 6300 (which is the same as the Pro 500). It will run $499.99 and will come with a new cookbook called "Savor" (I haven't seen this cookbook yet, but it is supposed to be an improvement - a few more recipes - on the Whole Foods Recipes book that used to come with the 5200). The 6300 (AKA the Pro 500) has pre-set buttons, a true variable speed control from 1 to 10, and the fan is running during all of the variable speeds (it doesn't only kick on at high like the 5200 used to). I hope this information is helpful! Guest guest
Forgot to mention - the Pro 500 has a different cookbook than the 6300. The 6300 has the " Savor " cookbook (as described below) and the Pro 500 comes with the " Create " Cookbook: This cookbook now comes standard with the Vita-Mix Pro 500, and includes instructions on how to create recipes using the pre-programmed blending cycles. Designed for easy reading, this recipe book stands like an easel but folds like a binder, offering a convenient way to add recipes as you discover them. It is packed with 350 full color, easy to follow, step-by-step recipes and tips from top-rated chefs including Batali, Ani Phyo, Desantis and many more. Your family will enjoy these recipes for years to come! The included video is a Gourmet prep instruction class by Executive Chef Steve Schimoler, a DVD of easy-to-follow professional techniques. > > what are the differences between these 2 models? a friend saw the 6300 at Costco yesterday, she said it was brand new... >
Guest guest
Hi I am Janet and very new to this. I saw a BlendTec demo at my Costco on Sunday, came home and did the research and ordered a Reconditioned 5200 for $329 (free shipping) that evening. It only has the 5 year Warranty. For the most part, I am happy with my purchase. I just received notice that it is arriving today. How's that for fast service?! I do wish I had known about the new in-store Costco model. For $50 more I could have had the 7 year warranty, but I am hoping that I won't have any problems and the extra two years of warranty will be a non-issue. I started to follow the guidelines in Eat to Live a few weeks ago. It is going well except hard for me to consume the recommended one pound of raw veggies per day. I thought drinking 'em seemed much easier! Looking forward to learning more from all of you! ~janet > > what are the differences between these 2 models? a friend saw the 6300 at Costco yesterday, she said it was brand new... >
Guest guest
Thanks Lea Ann! I like that Costco will have an " on the shelf " model instead of having to rely on finding the nearest roadshow. I'm sure many new to Vitamix may warm to the idea of presets, and I see how it offers a more direct competition to Blendtec. That said, I really don't see the need. I completely agree with your need for control. What is going to happen in the 45ish seconds that I desperately need to walk away from the machine for? But of course, isn't important to enough to turn off the machine & deal with, lol. I like to watch for the consistency, the specks, etc. When using raspberries, I blend all my fruit first and then the greens with added water, which seems to help with the seeds. Issues like these are more problematic rather than helpful with presets. I do like the idea of the improved motor, and the biggest feature is the fan being on during variable speed. > > what are the differences between these 2 models? a friend saw the 6300 at Costco yesterday, she said it was brand new... >
