Guest guest
I use it all of the time - but not in a smoothie, I think it would taste really bad. I just stir it into some water and slurp it down then reward myself with something that tastes better (like a smoothie :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Jul 5, 2012, at 12:09 AM, vitamixbob wrote: Anyone use diatomacious earth in a smoothie? Guest guest
I wouldn't ingest it. It's used as a dewormer for animals and to help control fleas and pests externally. What would be the benefits of a human eating it?

Guest guest
I just mix mine in some water, chug it down, and then follow up with some plain water. It doesn't taste bad but it is a little muddy/gritty. You need to make sure to get food grade and Perma Guard seems to be the preferred supplier. They allow other companies to repackage and sell their product so if you buy it, make sure it says Perma Guard. They have their own website which can direct you to suppliers. There is also a group called thegoldensecret dedicated to DE use. Fran In a message dated 7/5/2012 12:10:04 A.M. Guest guest
Well if you're a chicken and have a gizzard you probably would. It's also used to protect plants from slugs since they won't cross it. It would tear up their bodies. Sent from my iPadHD On Jul 5, 2012, at 8:29 AM, Autumn Garrod <agarrod@...> wrote: > I wouldn't ingest it. Guest guest
> It's also used to protect plants from slugs since they won't cross it. It would tear up their bodies. Hey! I want to trade slugs with you. My apparently-talented slugs just slide right over it, leaving their trails behind them. I had to make an electric fence to keep them out of my hostas and my garden beds. The 'fence' is actually copper sheeting cut into strips which are then set into ground as perimeter; I'm told the copper carries enough (soil borne) electricity to disrupt slugs' meanderings. It does work but of course I always have to be careful not to step on it; I seem to destroy my fences as I daydream my way through the gardening.....and it's a now-documented fact that it only takes 20 minutes for a slug to find and breach a stepped-on fence. I do use successfully DE for many things though, including flea control. As far as internal parasite control a battle still wages about whether or not DE is effective when wet...but I use it anyway since it's a no-harm situation. I will say that a 1 " sq chunk of chewing tobacco works a lot better for goats, though I as a human am not interested in that much efficiency and the dogs won't touch it, so DE it is for us. Guest guest
Hi Lea Ann- This sounds like something I need and I want to try it. Do you have a recommended place to buy it? I looked over the links you provided and one is a Canada location. One looks like its for dealers and the other one's retail stores are not in my state (PA). I found other sites with a google search but I want to make sure I get a quality product so I thought I'd check with you. I'll check tomorrow if it's in any health food stores close to me. Thank you so much! Guest guest
Yes, I do think it helps. Just make sure to drink enough water because it can be constipating if you don't. Sorry anyone, if that was too much information! Fran In a message dated 7/5/2012 6:00:25 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, myleszoey@... writes: Thank you Fran.
