Hey Newbies. . .

The FISH Test measures 200-250 cells. The RT-PCR Test measures 1,000. .

..10,000. . .

100,000 and 1,000,000 for diagnosis/BMT. Once you have reached '0' per the

FISH Test, there's no reason for it to be repeated. Most of the H/O Specialists

aren't using the FISH Test at all anymore. Should you have a Physician in the

USA who's using this test; let him know of the RT-PCR Test; which is more

accurate as more cells are examined. My H/O retired and his Partner's my Doctor

now has Prostrate Cancer Survivors and wrote the FISH Test for me.

After joining the support groups, I became more knowledgeable of our bug than

their office was at the time. I educated them on our bug; I don't think that

this could be the case now though; however, we KNOW and they are learning

through us about CML.

Hopefully ALL of your testing will be done at the same lab and at the same

level each time.

Our Gold/Gleevec is processed by our Liver as is Acetaminophen/other

medications, etc.; therefore, if you are taking Aspirin/acetaminophen, etc., Ask

your Physician to also run Liver/Kidney/Lung etc., Function Tests in addition to

your RT-PCR Tests.

Also ask for and keep you own records of ALL testing. . .it will be beneficial

to you and your overall Survival. I am not a Doctor, never portrayed one on TV;

nor do I aspire to be a Physician in another life. This is FYI~~my 2 cents only.

Take care, I have ALL in my prayers. . . " K "
