Guest guest
Hi Guys, Can you tell me if you have had more infections/colds etc on Tasigna? I've been told that on Tasi, there is a 2 fold incidence of decreased immune incidence which makes it more likely to get an infection. On Glivec I never got a cold despite everyone succumbing to different bugs. I had a 5 day break prior to commencing Tasi and of course had to come down with the worst URTI I have ever had for a long time. I have virtually kicked it now after 2 weeks (although my DH has now got it, nothing like sharing LOL). One Aussie lady has had nothing but cold after cold....what is the experience of everyone else? I had my haem/t appt on Friday and pleased to say my PCR has remained stable at 0.09% (having monthly PCRs) while on Glivec 200mg. Now on Tasigna will be a hole new ball game, but NO side effects so far (touch wood). He is so wonderful and asked me what the experiences of my support group was. He was telling me that one of his Glivec pts was PCRU for 2 years and now gone off, so will be interesting to see how he goes. Being so wet here....snow down to 150m in some places (all we had was hail), I wheel barrowed over 20 loads of chip bark into my dog yards and feel tired tonight, but nothing like the fatigue experienced with Glivec yipppeee! Guest guest
Sharon, I made PCRU on gleevec though. Tasigna is just maintaining that. I maintained the PCRU with 300 mg geevec as well but the side effects were so intense that I had to switch. When I did the 800 mg tasigna, the side effects again were awful. So the oncologist said we can try this. I am VERY lucky. Thanks, Blessings and hugs, Barb Barb Stanley 57 DX 5-5-2002 age 51 Hydroxurea 5-5-02-6-3--02 Gleevec 400 mg 6-11-02 MMR 8-1-02 CCR 12-10-02 PCRU 3-17-03 Gleevec break: Feb. 15 - May 1-2007 (severe side effects) Gleevec 300 mg.
