It can be short term( usually 3-6 months) or long term... and since it has been over a year, I would say you have long term IF it is from your employment. If you are on social security disabiity, then that is another whole story. I believe that is permanent. Check with the social security department to see. I think the diagnosis does not really matter, the reason for the disability. It is a matter of not being able to work for what ever reason. Best of luck.
