When i met with the cardiologist a week or so ago, he was explaining to me why sprycel can cause our blood pressure to increase or make funny heart rhythms in some folks.... Because the drug leeches calcium from our bones, and calcium is a factor in regulation of heart rhythms and currents in our bodies. As i recall (and im sure lottie or tracey etc can help us research) calcium is important in weight loss. I am not sure why... But i think i remember it plays an importantt role in weight loss as well. So... If we maintain good levels of calcium to compensate for how the sprycel may affect us, we may help our weight issue and our heartbeat patterns!!! I wil try to do more research as well. Keep me posted on what ya'll find out. Guest guest Posted October 14, 2008 Report Share Posted October 14, 2008 Hi Everyone, I'm reporting in because I said I would but so far the trial nurse who's a liaison to BMS has failed to contact me about the company's stance on whether Sprycel affects weight gain and trouble with weight loss -- metabolism rates. I'll call her again tomorrow and try to get her to make this one phone call. You'd think there would be more interest in something that seems to affect a large number of people who take Sprycel! I have tried to discuss these issues with my many different dr's but none ever have a response to my questions. And seem to not look into it any further. Hopefully you will get a response, maybe it takes a little more time for them to find the answers. And then again the dr's may not be reporting any results on the affects it has on women.
