I haven't made any dressings as yet, I'm new to Vitamix too. I used to watch a TV show called Fusion Grain Cooking and Chef Brad, the chef on the show, would use flax oil to emulsify the dressing. You can see an example here: http://www.chefbrad.com/grain/free-recipes_view.php?recipeid=269 & rcatid=24 - I plan to use the method some day. Hope this helps you in your Vitamix adventures :o)

Hi,

I want to make some salad dressings in the vitamix. I was wondering if there are some tips/tricks to doing so, and is there a way to get the dressing to not separate (ie: stay emulified)? I don't want to add a lot of extra ingredients that might change the taste or texture too much. I also wanted to know if you mix a fresh batch (for example: a basic balsamic vinegrette) of dressing, how long before the oil/vinegar starts to separate? I was hoping that someone who has made a lot of dressings with the Vitamix might be able to give me some good advice. Thanks in advance.

I would like to make salad dressings in mine, as well. But, I am curious about

how to clean it after making a salad dressing.

I can't imagine just the normal cleaning is going to get rid of the oil residue.

Any tips on the cleaning after any oil mixture?

I use soapy water and a bottle brush - cleans right up!
