Guest guest
Dear , Vicki and Skip, I suspect the use of CML drugs has a lot to do with your veins collapsing. When I was on Hydrea, they would find a vein and as soon as they tried to puncture it, it would roll away. Inside my right elbow has been dried up for about 10 years. The left arm is used and abused, so I am hoping it lasts. It pokes out at you, so that is the first place they go to when I have an IV. The next nurses who need to draw blood have to really look for one. Some days they are more pronounced that others. I remember my poor BIL when he was dying of lymphoma, they only place they could use was his big toe. It would seem that they could put in a pic line in your arm somewhere. When I was on HHT infusions, they put a central venous catheter in my chest, because there was a blockage in my right arm and they couldn't block the only other place on the left. Vicki, if anyone thinks you are an IV drug user, ask them if they would like to have you save your old syringes for them. LOL. There you go, Skip has the answer. Hope you are gaining strength back, Skip!!! Go forward. Bobby and I have noticed an increase in messages being posted. Guest guest
hi lottie: greetings to the group. i was in the hospital again last week. my pancreas and heart are going nuts. all my lab work comes back fine. no elevation in enzymes but the pain is intolerable. just in the three weeks i was in the hospital during the last three months i have had a total of 15 iv started and blown. i can't count how many times the lab tech drew blood only to have a slow tap or none at all. the iv's are the stumper because being 48 years old i have had many many surgery before being dxd in 2002. the longest stay at a hospital before was for the old age way of removal of the gallbladder and cutting the entire ab open. well that stay was 10 days and one iv started and stayed. during child birth one iv started and stayed the whole time. hummmmmm. my question to doctors and will always be....does your blood function the same as before i was on the chemo? i can only answer the question from my personal experience and say no. my blood and vascular system is slow as molasses in January versus a free flow before the chemo. that's my two cents. happy day to all ann grimm dxd 2002 gleevec 2002-2007 sprycel 2007 to present [ ] No veins left?
