Dear Matt,

My problem is when I found a person I liked to do my BMB/BMA, he was either

gone, or I had to wait longer, because there were other people asking for him.

Now they have nurse practioners doing it and I find they are all good. They

used to have 3 people in the room, and after they prepared you, the N/P would

come in and leave and you never saw them. Now there are only 2 in the room and

the N/P stays the whole while. You are right, I can't see having a strong

sedation for something that takes only a moment and then you are free to walk

out and continue the rest of your appointments.

Some people, however really need the sedation, as they have a hard time, and

I would want something stronger than lidocane, if I was in a lot of pain. I've

had about 44 BMA/BMB's over the years and had so many procedures on my back

without lidocane, that I think I have a higher tolerance for pain. When it

comes to a point where you can't stand the pain, then it's time to ask for help.

As long as I have been going to MDACC, I have never heard anyone groan or

scream. By the way, was the guy with the braids? I remember him as

being very good, but when I returned, it would have been too long a wait. You

have a long enough wait as it is, so I went with the next tech that was

available. My next appt. is October 2. Is anyone else going to be there at that

time? Let me know if you are.
