Guest guest
Dear Vicki, Were you ever diagnosed with thalessemia? That's what Jimmy and Jerome have. It's an inherited trait, the red corpuscles are half the size of a normal person, therefore they can't absorb iron. My dentist has it and has to get transfusions often, then he suffers from iron overload. Well the weekend is here, so enjoy your gumbo. I was going to make one today, but decided to go Chinese with the shrimp. Lordy, lordy, was it ever lip smacking good. I had a large package of mushrooms and threw that in, too. I made some shrimp gumbo at Rhonda's for her carpenter crew and they couldn't wait to eat it when they knew what was for lunch. The cook is worn out this week from cooking, they can eat leftovers tomorrow. Jimmy will cook on Sunday. xoxoxox Lottie

Guest guest
I've been iron deficient all of my life but then I'm a women so I always just blamed it on that. Who knows, maybe it's just the way some people are and there is no explanation. My ferritin is usually in the teens but once I managed to get it in the 30's after months of iron supplements.
