I have been waking up in the middle of the night with my nightclothes and sheets wet. We also keep the house freezing cold (we all like it like that) with central air and fans in every room. Also recently (for the first time ever), I have cold chills off and on during the day and turn the air up to 80 (of course that doesn't last long!) to warm back up. Not much fun on top of everything else! Alice
Guest guest
Hi Louise...I'm on Remicade but have had not had any night sweats. I'm perimenopausal. Are you diabetic? When my Blood Glucose goes low I sweat a lot. I sure hope you get this clearned up and have a restful night. Love.... Tess
Guest guest
It's funny that you should bring that up. The past week or so I've been getting sweats, too. I haven't had that in a long time. We are tinkering with my thyroid dosage (lower), and I figured that was the reason. I'll be interested to see what others say. Guest guest
hey ya'll... I am 47 and went through menopause 10 years ago. I only started taking hormones about 1 1/2 years ago. Wish I had taken them sooner! But was " younger " and full of fight then! And they do make it so much " easier " . What I did notice as far as " night sweats " and hot flashes in general was, was that this hormone taking took them away completely! Wonderful. But... when I started taking the Prednisone a few months ago, I noticed that they " came back " to some degree. Just every now and again. But my Pharmacists explained that the Pred. sometimes " reduces " the " effectiveness " of the Hormone. But that it would " level back off " . And it has leveled back off. Thank goodness! I take my Hormone (FemHrt) in the early a.m., and the Pred. around Noon, to space them out somewhat. I don't know how many of you are on Pred. along with your hormones, but if you are new to taking Pred. maybe it could be like the Pharmacists said to me? Guest guest
Hi Louise, My Lifemate had this same problem, At times it was so severe we would have to change the sheets in the middle of the night. She switched her hormones from morning to just before bed.. Problem solved.. Hope this helps. Lena > Just when I finally thought that I was over menopausal symptoms I have developed night sweats. Guest guest
Hi Susie, In my early fights with SLE I was on Pred for a good long time. I hated it, Made me swell up, The doctor said this is what works and I had no choice. Along with the Lasiks ( To force kidney function). It was not a happy time as I felt like a beached whale that needed the bathroom every few minutes. Lena > > > It's funny that you should bring that up. Guest guest
Tell her to try coconut oil. I'm having good success with it and hormones. You can have her do a search on the coconut forum on hormones for more info plus find Suze's and Katja's coconut chocolate candy recipes. Those candies are not too difficult to implement. Of course my success with coconut oil is probably not an isolated event. I also use lots of fermented vegetable foods, grassfed red meats and pastured chickens, raw fermented dairy, butter oil/cod liver oil........ Tell her also to look at the info on women's health on the weston price foundation site. Bye lynn > My friend is 43 and she's experiencing some severe menopausal night > sweats. If you google his name, his site and articles should come up. I had night sweats last year on several ocassions that were not menopausal (I'm 41) but were likely due to mercury poisoning (from my amalgams - it's one of the well-known symptoms) and/or from my thyroid issues, which I think is caused by my mercury load. I haven't yet removed my amalgams, but I did start taking several antioxidants at the suggestion of my ND, plus Armour thyroid, and haven't had any more night sweats. Antioxidants help aleviate the symptoms of mercury poisoning since it causes oxidative damage, among other things. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Guest guest
Dix, I have night sweats too-I think its a combo of " meanopause " and fibro for me. I just sleep with the fan and very little clothing -lol. Dixie <dix7chix@...> wrote: I've been having a problem with night sweats for a while. I assume they're part of fibro, since so many things are. I know my internal thermostat is off - there's a very narrow temp range that I'm comfortable in. Does anyone else have this problem? Know anything more about what causes it? What can help it? Thanks in advance, Dix
Guest guest
Night Sweats Amazing things these Previous to being diagnosed I had night sweats thinking that it was Menopause and was not that concerned. When I had my bleed-out and a radical hysterectomy this year (2008) I knew what night sweats were all about. Left me with one ovary and all other tubes, lymph glands, uterus etc were taken out. Just the body adjusting and no glivec (at that time for a fortnight) - like a giant detox. Sweats - head to toe, just sweating - that the hospital staff had to change sheets and night clothes. When I went home from hospital, had to change night clothes, like Lottie had beach towels on bed to soak up not sweat but I think the amount of water just pouring off me - just terrible. Then went back on glivec and within 2 days sweats stopped. Amazing - and to think some specialists think that glivec has nothing to do with hormones. Sweats - I was ill with bone pain this winter - just could not get warm - and was walking the pain off - it wasn't bone ache but actual pain - went on for weeks - I possibly was not eating as well as I should at that time and I started to get night sweats again. I now find if I eat as a good a diet as I can (healthy) and try as I can to say NO!! to chocolate and cake, (Good reason to join the CML Weight Loss Gals and Zavie with motivation each week) I find that I do not have night sweats. So as Lottie states, could be a wide variety of reasons for night sweats - just have to keep a diary and try and work out triggers to see a pattern maybe one suggestion Cheers Sue (Aussie)
Guest guest
Thanks for your ideas about diet and the sweats ( I get them day and night) I am going to try it and if nothing else I will be healthier. Guest guest
So true, so true! I have sweats--they are the bane of my existence! They will not stop no matter what. I have been in remission for a while and they still have not stopped, even when my white counts are down. I am about to go to an endocrinologist to find out if I have a brain tumor or something going on--it is that bad. Drenching, multiple times per day. I am almost afraid to do activities because of the discomfort and embarrassment of having a dripping day. What to do?! Vicki > > Hi, I, too had terrific night sweats and it wasn't because of hormones, I was already on them, it was the CML. I would sleep on beach towels and get up and change them every other hour or so. I also found that working outdoors, the sweats would come and blind me because of the salt dripping from my scalp and face. When I was diagnosed and got my wbc under control, the sweats stopped. So depending on whether you are male or female, are on hormones or just beginning the menopausal cycle, you may be sweating for a different reason. Now, where else could you talk about something like this, but here? > Blessings, > Lottie > >
