Guest guest
Esther, You asked a few weeks ago about my husband's onc. at Hopkins. I am sorry I am just now replying, but my life got a little too busy for a while. Anyway, my husband seems happy enough with Dr. Gore. I think his frustration is more with the fact that he has not reached CCR and that cannot be blamed on the onc. I only met Dr. Gore once so I cannot form an opinion on one meeting. (I have 2 school age children so I cannot make the 2 hour trip with my husband). I do know that when my husband first transferred his care to Hopkins, I asked around and Dr. Gore came highly recommended. I think I mentioned before that my husband has been on Gleevec for just over 2 years (400 mg. for the 1st year and 800 mg for the 2nd year). He has not reached CCR yet and Dr. Gore did not hesitate to consult with his colleagues regarding further care. I do think there is something to be said for this. It is because of that consultation with his colleagues, that my husband was recommended for the trial. My best advice is to try him out. Because we are all so different, a personality that works for one person may not work for another. I do not know that this was much help, but I hope it helps a little.
