When I got laid off, I lost my insurance. Novartis was great. They approved a

year's free supply after an efficient, streamlined process. They always call me

before I run out to arrange the next month's delivery. It's been a Godsend.

Dear ,

There are several organizations that assist you with paying for your cancer

meds. Novartis also has patience assistance if you call their hot line.

Blessings,

Lottie

Hi Lottie,

Please excuse my ignorance, but am I right in thinking that you guys

in the States have to pay for your Gleevec ?

I look forward to hearing back from you in due course.

Best wishes,

Pete :-)

HI PETE, I HAVE NOT BEEN ON GLEEVEC FOR SEVERAL YEARS, BUT WHEN I WAS ON IT, I

QUALIFIED FOR THEIR PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, AND THEY SENT IT TO ME FREE.

YOU HAD TO EARN NOT MORE THAN $44,000 A YEAR, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS QUITE GENEROUS

AND SUPPLY TAX PAPERS.

I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE IF MR. OBAMA COMES UP WITH A DECENT HEALTH CARE PLAN, WE

SURE COULD USE IT.  BOBBY

hI Pete--in case Lottie didn't get back to you--

We pay a small copay with our health insurance, depending on what

kind we have may be from $5 to $50 per prescription> Medicare is

another matter. I am not sure what it pays--but something similar,

no doubt. Also, Novartis has a program where they will give you your

medication for free if you can't afford it.
