Hi all,

I just got my blood test back; I have been on Tasigna for about 2 weeks now.

All my counts are now low, whereas on Gleevec they were all high.

HEre's the ones that are out of whack:

carbon dioxinde 20 L

Bilibrubin 1.3 H

WBC 2.9 L

Hemoglobin 11.6 L up from 7.4 though

RDW 18.3 H

Absolute Neutrophils 1456 L

Absolute Monocytes 12 L

Platelets that had been so high are now 145 normal low

Giant platelets noted; I have had these for a long time now.

My sugar was high at 105; never have had high sugar; I read where this is a

side effect of Tasigna along with pancreatitus.

My onc didn't call me, so he must be satisfied with the report.

I'm a concerned about the Monocytes being 12; I wonder if this was a mistake.

Normal is 200-950.

I had normal EKG.

How do you figure the ANC with these figures?

Thanks a million for all the help and wonderful CML warriors on this list.

Blessings,

Jeanie<3

Hi Tracey and thanks so much for explaining that to me.

To my eye, they just all look tooooooooo low.

My onc didn't call, and he usually does if something is wrong.

I don't know if you remember, but I started Tasigna about 2 weeks ago when I

had gone into accelerated Phase of CML, so it went right to work; thank the

Lord.

I had some tummy pain but it is better now.

Hi Jeanie,

Your numbers look pretty normal in spite of the slight highs and

lows.

Your Bilirubin is just barely above normal, mine's been more than

double that before without any problems.

Your White count is a little low but as long as your ANC is above 1,

you're doing fine.

Your ANC is the same thing as your Absolute Neutrophil Count (that's

what ANC stands for). Yours is listed as 1456 which is the same as

1.456 meaning that it's above 1 so you're doing fine with that.

Your Monocytes are listed as 12 but I'm quite sure that they're

really 1.2 because your WBC is only 2.9. Your white count is the

total of all your white cells. This means that if you add up the

neutrophils, the monocytes, the lymphocytes, the basophils and the

eosinophils, it should all equal what your WBC is. Since your white

count is only 2.9, you can't possibly have a count of 12 for your

monocytes. 1.2 is a very normal count for monocytes so don't worry

about that.

All in all, your numbers look great for someone taking Tasigna.
