Guest guest
Sorry to hear of your struggles. Is there free clinics in your area and would you be eligable? I live in Ca. there are a couple free clinics here but must be low income to be eligable.Just a thought.Hope you find a way. I've been feeling bad lately -- sleeping four and five hours a day some days, and I have a lot of pain in my legs (mostly my shins). Guest guest
Hi : I really feel for you with this situation. When my husband left his job, we picked-up Cobra until he could go back to work. It was expensive, but it continued our coverage until he got another job. Do you have Cobra available to you. The thing is once your coverage lapses, I do not know if you can pick-up the Cobra. You said you were laid off back in July. A lot of time has lapsed. I hope somebody has a better answer for you to help you out. We did not have the money for Cobra, and we cashed in a portion of his 401 K to cover us for a year. Just some suggestions if these things are available to you. Guest guest
Have you checked around your city? We have a few places where I live that offer help. We are low income, so, we do get help. Do you have a Cancer center in your area? Do they have any suggestions for financial help? Guest guest
Hi , I was in your position too, and it was horrible. I paid COBRA for a while, but it was unbelievably expensive and I couldn't maintain so there was actually a brief period of time where I had NO insurance either. I just paid for everything out of pocket. Luckily I was at a time in my illness where things were spaced out a bit and I was able to work again and now have benefits again. Depending on what state you live in, you might check to see if they have some sort of a " Basic Health " plan. Here in Washington, you get " Basic Health " which covers pretty much everything, and it costs $23 per month. My daughter goes regularly and has all her tests and just pays a $15 copayment for office visits, and minimal amount for Rxs. It is wonderful for her. She has been out of work and is 24, still living at home with us, and she is still able to qualify for this. I pay her $23 premiums right now, but I am sure she will still qualify even after she is working--the wage requirements here are pretty generous. Otherwise, I would look into your State's welfare plan--DSHS or whatever it is called. They generally have a health care plan too, and it should cover your doctor visits. As I have said, this country needs a standard healthcare plan that covers EVERYONE. If we can pay billions to run a war, we ought to be able to cover our cancer patients and children with basic health insurance! That's my 2 cents worth. Sorry for spouting off. Guest guest
, Do you have any family who can help you out temporarily, or adult children who can add you on their health insurance plans? Are there any Wellness Cancer Homes in your State who have support groups and can assist you? Perhaps you can write to me privately, and I can find out with my Wellness House here in Illinois where we can locate someone else to help you in your difficult time. Remember we are all in this together! Heck, maybe there could be an angel sitting on your shoulder that you won't know unless you explore all your options! Blessings come in all types!
