Guest guest
I was rummaging around in my fridge trying to figure out what to make for a late lunch… There was some asparagus in there that I need to use up today or toss, but not enough to make a full bowl of asparagus soup. There were some nice, organic carrots right by the asparagus. I said to myself, " hmmm, I wonder if anyone has ever made 'carrot asparagus soup' " ? So I searched Google for Carrot Asparagus Soup, and this is what I found: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=carrot+asparagus+soup & ie=UTF\ -8 & oe=UTF-8 Then just for the fun of it I added the word Vitamix to my search terms: Carrot Asparagus Soup Vitamix, and this is what turned up: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=carrot+asparagus+soup+vitami\ x & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8 Not quite what I was looking for, so I put Carrot Asparagus Soup in parenthesis WITH Vitamix like this: " Carrot Asparagus Soup " Vitamix, and this is the result: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=%22carrot+asparagus+soup%22+\ vitamix & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8 Notice all of the recipes that called for tahini? Note to self, " pick up some sesame seeds the next time you are at the health food store " . It was nice to see that carrot asparagus soup HAD been made before, but since I never follow recipes anyway :-) here is what I came up with: Asparagus - 2 cups? roughly chopped 2 peeled and chopped carrots 1 small sweet yellow onion roughly chopped 4 lg cloves of fresh garlic 1/2 veggie bullion cube (I used Rapunzel's brand) 1 cup filtered water Sea Salt to taste Chinese 5 Spice Powder I put the first five ingredients into the steamer basket, and put the filtered water in the bottom of the steamer. After steaming lightly, I added the steamed veggies and the steam water into the Vitamix. Then I blended on high until creamy. Then, while spinning on variable speed #1 (to get rid of the foam) I added Sea Salt (to my taste - I use more than most people) then decided to toss in some Chinese 5 Spice powder (again to taste) was 2-3 shakes of the bottle - perhaps 1/4 tsp or slightly more? I make soup almost daily. I pretty much always just toss in any and everything that might be in my fridge. It is the seasonings that make the soup. Truly not much harder than opening a can of 's but SO MUCH HEALTHIER!!!
