Guest guest
Hi Tracey, I got a copy of my bone marrow biopsy test results (in addition to what I posted here last week). Unfortunately, they are not " bid news " , but I would be happy to understand what the results tell about the condition of CML and if I'm moving into right direction and in appropriate pace (I mean if the reduction that I have is good enough for three months of treatment or it is kind of slow). This test was taken in three months after the very first one. I'll really appreciate your feedback on this one. Here is what I have written on the report: Clinical Indication: R/O CML Results: Female Karyotype and Abnormal FISH results positive for cryptic BCR/ABL gene rearrangement Interpretation: No clonal cytogenetic abnormalities were detected in cells from short term unstimulated bone marrow aspirate cultures at the resolution obtained. FISH: Of a total of 600 interphase nuclei examined, 23.3% showed an abnormal positive single fusion signal. The current FISH results are consistent with continued involvement of bone marrow by the previously identified cell clone containing cryptic BCR/ABL gene rearrangement. Compared to the prior specimen (refer to 08/13/08, abnormal cells = 82.2%), this current specimen shows a decreased number of abnormal cells. Cytogenetic Analysis Summary: Number of Cells Analyzed: 20 Number of Cultures used for Analysis: 2 Number of Cells Karyotyped at Microscope: 14 Number of Hard Copy Karyotypes: 6 Banding Level: 350-450 Banding Method: GTW/G FISH Analysis Summary: Number of Cells Analyzed: 600 Cells Analyzed: Interphase Probes Utilized: BCR/ABL1 Thank you in advance, Lilia. Guest guest
Hi Lilia, This is excellent news. It is moving in the right direction and at a very good pace according to the FISH test.. What I don't see is the cytogenic result. It is normally reported as the number of cells that are +ive out of 20 cells tested. What dose of Gleevec are you on? Guest guest
Hi Zavie, Thank you so much for your reply. I re-checked the copy. They didn't specify the cytogenic result. I'll call to lab to clarify it. Do I need to ask them: " How many positive cells were identified out of 20 cells tested? " Is this correct question to ask? Does it mean " positive Ph chromosome " ? I was on 400mlg of Gleevec for four weeks, then three weeks off Gleevec, then about four weeks on 100mlg. Starting November 7th I'm on 200mlg of Gleevec. I'll email later today or tomorrow, as soon as I'll learn about the cytogenic result. Thank you, Lilia. > > Hi Lilia, > > This is excellent news. Guest guest
Hi Lilia, I agree with Zavie, these are very good FISH results for such a short period of time. Let us know if you find out the cytogenetic results as they don't seem to be here. Also good news is that you don't appear to have any clonal evolutions which can sometimes be trickier to treat and requires more frequent monitoring for people who have them. So far so good, Tracey > > > > Hi Lilia, > > > > This is excellent news.
