Guest guest
Hi! I am one of the BMT patients. 15months post bone marrow transplant my last pcr was in the negative range while the other two had 1 cell in 100,000 this year. My biopsy done in Aug showed 100% donor my oldest sister. I found out in Aug 2005 wbc 220,000. I have hashimoto thyroiditis auto immune and taking synthroid to bring the tsh levels down. I have a small nodule on the old thryoid and if it gets bigger they can biopsy. The only thing still out of whack is the liver enzymes they are elevated but not too bad. I have learned alot and hope I remain in the neg because gleevec and sprycel did not work thus bmt. Just wanted to share. I read alot you guys are great! Here's an abstract that deals with the issue: http://ash.confex. com/ash/2008/ webprogram/ Paper9503. html The bottom line is that after 5 years, the survival rate for Gleevec patients was almost 95% while the survival rate for transplant patients was 71%. Guest guest
Congratulations Christa on a great result from your transplant! There will always be some patients who will have to go down the BMT route when they find themselves in your boat, having not responded to the available drugs so it's really great to hear your success story which will no doubt give comfort to those in that situation. The liver is a very resilient organ and can withstand much punishment. Hopefully yours will settle down soon. Take care, Tracey > > Hi!
