Hello Loren,I'd call Vitamix Customer Service (the number is on the back of your machine) first thing tomorrow morning. You "can" still use your machine without the ground wire (it will work) but the ground is insurance against an electrical surge. I wouldn't do it.When you get someone from Customer Service on the line ask them to EMAIL (rather than snail mail) your shipping label - this will save you a few days and you can get that machine in the mail to Vitamix for repairs ASAP. The repair turnaround is usually 1.5 weeks.Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<:)))><

Oh no! I just went to make myself a smoothie, and I noticed the third (grounding) prong on the plug was bent, so I (very gently, I swear) pushed it, and it BROKE OFF! I have a bad cold and was really looking forward to a smoothie and now I think I've ruined my Vitamix! Sadness. What do I do? Lea Ann? Anybody?

Thanks,

Loren

LorenI don't know where you are located, but here in San Francisco there is a very good appliance shop and I had a similar problem with my KitchenAid stand mixer and they replaced the plug while I waited.  If you contact Vitamix it could take you some time away from you vital smoothies.

Thanks for the idea. I wish I had thought of that before, but it's actually

already on it's way back to the Vitamix mothership to be fixed. They couldn't

have been nicer on the phone, and it is still under warrantee! I followed Lea

Ann's advice (thanks Lea Ann!) and asked them to e-mail me the label so that I

could send it out immediately. Now, I wait.
