Guest guest
Tracey, Is this something that we should have checked and how do we do it? Pregnant like and closing in on 60 are two phrases that shouldn't even be in the same sentence. With all the changes sometimes I don't recognize my own body. I had the same phenomena happen to me several years ago and when I checked my prolactin, it was 3 times higher than it should have been. Basically, it was the same level as it would be for a pregnant woman. I asked Dr. Druker if he thought Gleevec could have caused it as all the other possible causes had checked out negative but he said that he had never heard of any complaints regarding increased bust or prolactin level. Guest guest
Hi Chi, Prolactin is a hormone that causes the breasts to swell and if it's high enough, you could even start to lactate (like some women do in the later stages of pregnancy). It's simple to check with a simple blood test. It's just another box to check off on the form with the CBC. Mine goes up and down (like the rest of the Gleevec side effects) and although the doctors have no interest in investigating to see if it's Gleevec related, I have exhausted all the other possibilities and as a result, have concluded that it must be the Gleevec.
