Guest guest
I got a nice chuckle when the discussion turned to one about the color of the smoothies, especially people not liking the brown color! The other day, I made a smoothie with kiwi, strawberries, bananas, spinach and almond milk. Hubby said it was delicious, but why was it brown??? He wanted a prettier color (he's also a science teacher, and tells me all the time about 'nature' and not changing it too much). My reply to him (being a teacher of preschoolers) was that red and green make brown (referring to the color of the ingredients), and that was the way nature intended our food to look! That quieted his comments about the colors of the foods we are eating. I didn't think to add cocoa powder to this smoothy to make it chocolatey----I am trying desperately to get my 49 year old hubby to finally enjoy fresh veggies. This has made for lots of laughter in our home the past few days. I do think that it is a great idea to use the cocoa or carob powder to add a different dimension.
