Guest guest
I go to U of M on Wed. to have some labs and to meet with a doctor. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. And, I want to know why if I eat a particular snack and take my Gleevec one night - do I feel fine? And the the next night eat the exact same thing and feel like throwing up? I only get this nausea once a month or so - but I just know I am going to throw up. Ugh! Tammy
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I am not sure your age BUT for a lot of women who aren't on any medications, they feel nauseas when estrogen levels peak during the month. Add your daily dose of gleevec and wow- you got a nice case of nausea on your hands. My husband is really ill feeling every night - no matter what he eats or does, he has to sit still for about 45 minutes each evening..its been 2 years on gleevec like this. It really depends on each individual person. Write down any and all questions for your Dr, it will help direct your appointment so are heard. -shalyn From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Tammy Ferns Sent: October-30-08 10:20 PM Subject: [ ] Trial Update I go to U of M on Wed. to have some labs and to meet with a doctor. Guest guest
That is a really good question. I've only been troubled by occasional nausea with my pill, and I've tried to figure out what the best food is to take with the gleevec--a protein, a carb, or is it just a certain amount of calories? I started out taking it at bedtime with a frozen meal/snack, but had to adjust that b/c I gained some weight. Currently I take it in the evening with dinner or some peanut butter. Hope your appt goes well, and I understand your mixed feelings. I'm always glad to get good news, but I still find it hard to believe I will have an oncologist for the rest of my life. Good luck-- From: Tammy Ferns <tammy@...> Subject: [ ] Trial Update Date: Friday, October 31, 2008, 12:19 AM I go to U of M on Wed. to have some labs and to meet with a doctor.
