Lower dose of medication

It is so great to have this website. Thanks a lot for all your

replies. Carolyn, do you have any side effects for 20mlg of Sprycel?

If I understand correctly, you are responding very well to this dose;

log 5 reduction sounds like very good response. I'm happy to know

that I'm not the only one who is taking lower dose of medication. I'm

still concerned about it since in all articles they write that 300mlg

is the minimum dose for Gleevec. On Tuesday I'm scheduled for blood

level test. I really hope that 100mlg is enough for me. Sometimes I

get an impression that as more side effects you have as better

response you have to medication. It seems that very few people have

almost no side effects. Is this true?

The blood level test is pretty new type of testing. Does it mean that

they try to adjust a dose for an individual patient? Then what is a

deal about minimum requirement, like minimum 300mlg of Gleevec? I try

to learn and understand as much as I can and as fast as possible. I'm

still confused.

Thank you,

Lilia.

Gleevec so I was put on the recommended dose of Sprycel.  That proved

way to strong for me took about 4 weeks for the bone marrow to

recover.  I then was started on the lowest dose of sprycel 20mg bid

and have been at a log 5 reduction for over a year now.  So we are

all different.   The doctors  sometimes have to play with the doses a

little until the correct dose is found.  They will straighten it

out.  This is a fabulous web site.  You will get alot of

encouragement.  We are all in the same boat.  I thank God that we are

in the age of these wonder drugs even though they are very

expensive.  The leukemia society is also very helpful if you ever

have questions.
