Preserving Fresh Basil

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I need your advice on putting fresh basil by for future use. My plan is to finely chop, mix with olive oil and freeze in cubes. I'm a Vita-mix newbie and am wondering if I should use pulse to do this as not to totally obliterate the basil and then blend in the olive oil by hand? I'm counting on you experts out there for your sage advice. Thank you.Pam T
