Guest guest
Hi Obie, Regarding the filling material with metal in it, that sounds like something to look into -- what kind of metal? " Mortified " sounds about right. Whether you want to look into mercury removal is up to you-- I think you should find out about those metal chips before doing chelation though. I don't know--- I'm just being cautious. I've read stuff that says that mercury stays in the brain for longer-than-a-human-lifetime. I don't recall the numbers of years --- after a certain point it really doesn't matter. I think I've seen different numbers---- like a half-life of 50 or 100 years?? I don't know how anyone would know this. Autopsies might tell you that there WAS still mercury but not how long it would take to NOT be there. Whether the rest of your body (besides the brain) would have detoxed all the stored mercury I do not know.... but the brain seems rather important. Alpha Lipoic Acid is thought (by Andy Cutler) to get mercury out of the brain. Again, I don't know that it really gets it ALL out, but more out is good even if I don't know that! Many experiences I've read would also support Andy's idea about this. (People who have used DMSA for chelation who then add ALA often have increases in " bad " effects--- followed by additional improvements. This seems to indicate that ALA is chelating " more " than the DMSA did.) [Andy is author of a book called " Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and treatment " It sells for $35 and you can order it directly from his web site: http://hometown.aol.com/noamalgam.] If I knew you had no metal in your mouth (which I don't feel clear about.....) I would suggest that you TRY alpha lipoic acid to see what kind of reaction you get. (NOTE: I would NOT suggest this to anyone with amalgam in their mouth.) The way to do this " trial " is to buy alpha lipoic acid (health food store). The dose is .5 to 1 mg per pound of body weight (e.g. I take 100 mg and weigh 160 pounds). Take that dose EVERY 3 HOURS, including during the night. Continue that for 3 or 4 days. Then stop for at least the same # of days. (stopping for 4 to 11 days is most common). Then repeat. IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THE METHOD LISTED IF YOU HAVE AMALGAM ( " SILVER " ) FILLINGS. What you are looking for is EITHER " good " results OR " bad " results or both. Many people have different effects during the " on " and " off " parts of the cycle. You are looking for anything that could be mercury related. If you have mercury that is effectively being chelated, insomnia is a common effect. I would guess that 1 to 3 cycles would be enough to tell if something is happening. (I had clear positive results within 2 or 3 cycles. On the other hand, a friend who I think is VERY mercury toxic has been at this for about 9 rounds now without clear positives.) In a mercury toxic person the expected effect would be gradual improvements in health, along with some " bad " effects from the chelation. One first " off " day is reported by many to be the worst. I hope that this is helpful. regards, Moria RESPONDING TO: Message: 21 Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2001 16:30:19 -0800 From: " OBIE " <obie2@...> Subject: Well, I'm sorry; don't intend to occupy the list with basic questions but things finally occur to me when I read posts which frequently reoccur. For instance, I'm reading about the mercury-in-amalgams-issue repeatedly. I just remember that when I had mine removed, I did nothing about residual mercury; even to this date. So should I look into this after, say, 8 - 10 years following the mercury removal? And I know it''s beyond belief. My dentist knew I wanted all metal out of my teeth and he replaced the fillings with a glass-like substance that he later explained contained little particles of metal shavings which altered the color so they would match as closely as possible. I think I was as mortified as I've ever been; to think I had spent that amount of money and now had brand new metal in my mouth. I just gave up, walked off. Toady, is this going to aggravate my chances for a better recovery, do you think? Obie.
