Those " body pillows " help a lot too, or just hug your leg over a little

pillow. We've had some sciatica in our family too ... stretching exercises

are also good.

Hi. My name is Ruth & I'm new in the group but had to weigh in on the muscle

cramp thing. As was suggested by my neurologist at the MDA, I drink a glass of

tonic water before bed. When I remember to do this, I'm much less likely to be

troubled with those nasty middle-of-the-night cramps in my feet & legs. The

reason is that tonic water contains quinine, but in smaller quantities than the

prescription dose, so doesn't cause the side effects. Worth a try, huh?

Two suggestions for those not familiar with tonic.

1. DON'T repeat DON'T buy sugar free tonic water!!!!!

2. I add a capful of Rose's Lime juice to the glass. It really helps.

On a sacle of 1 to 10 on the awful taste meter, sugar free tonic is a

least a 12. It tastes aweful! I think the bitterness of the quinine and

the bitterness of what ever the bottler adds are synergistic. I couldn't

drink it. I too have periods if hypoglycemia. Tonic never sent me over

the end.

Candace,

I hear you. Perhaps drinking Tonic Water might help. Perhaps taking

Arnica as a supplement might help. Perhaps taking Vitamin E might help.

People in the same family can experience different symptoms and

different degrees of symptoms.

Not sure if you mean you have tremors in your arms or fasculations.

The Tonic water might help this, but sometimes medication do help more. I just

read your message over, OK it's hand tremors. I have these sometimes. There are

medications to help: I took Elavil for years, it was the most effective, Inderal

just made my heart feel jumpy, and Ativan was OK but made me feel sort of

stoned. I do not take anything currently, but I did increase my home meditation

time and I think that has helped immensely.

Explain CMT fatigue this way to your husband " My CMT muscles have to

work twice as hard to do 1/2 the work that your 'normal' muscles do.

This creates fatigue " .

Hang in there. Make a list of questions to take with you to your neurologist

appointment. Let us know how it goes.

Dear Barb,

Maybe the honeymoon is over. LOL. What you describe, however, is not

funny. Sometimes I looked spastic, with my hands twisting and my feet turning

inward. I take Skelaxin. It comes in 200 mg. strengths, but I split it in

4ths. I rarely have to take it on ski, but it is still my standby. I would get

Charley horses on the side of my legs instead of the calves. When I do feel an

" attack " coming on, I head for my Skelaxin. I tried every thing that was

advocated, but to no avail.

Blessings and may the leprechauns come and take them away,

Lottie
