Guest guest
I just got a Bioset in December. The first crop was alfalfa which was delicious. Next, I did the alfalfa, China Rose radish, and broccoli. I was disappointed in the tast of the broccoli, it is so mild. The radish is like a good hot radish. Yum. I just change the water twice a day, no problem. I love it. > I'm starting to really like the Kitchen Crop Sprouter which is like the > Bio-Set. I was amazed at how well my alfalfa did. Guest guest
Hi ALL! and Happy New Years! I am new to sprouting and to this group. Me- I'm a stay at home mom of 2 boys (Logan, almost 5, and 16 months). I am really interested in nutrition/health and natural living and reside in Plano Texas. My oldest son Logan has been diagnosed with a.d.h.d. which we control thru diet (no dairy, no gluten, no artificial additives) in his food. He has been on this diet for about 3 months now, and we are seeing a lot of improvements. In fact, over the holidays, many friends/family commented on his improved behavior. In my quest to help him, i became interested (ok, obsessessed) about nutrition and learning, and stumbled upon sprouting...which i still don't know that much about...but learning...and happy to find your group! I just received my new *biosta* sprouter in the mail a few days ago, and am ready to purchase some seeds from the web-site. Does anyone own or have experience with the biosta? I see that on the web-site they have the bio-set, which looks similar, but slightly different: " Bio-Set isn't a real tray sprouter, like its very close relation Biosta* it is a siphon sprouter which works on the principle of retained high humidity. " And that it is not highly recommended....should i stick with bigger seeds and avoid alfalfa as well? Can i grow soil-less wheatgrass and greens in this model? I plan on buying the sample packets to experiment with, but would love any advice anyone has for me. Thanks in Advance, peace, from Texas
Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. I have a bioset and don't like it. It works fine for bigger seeds but you will have trouble with the smaller ones clogging up the siphons. Congratulations on being a stay at home mom. Those seem to be rare these days. My wife stays at home with our six kids and works harder than I do. Good luck with your sprouting. Hi ALL! and Happy New Years! >I am new to sprouting and to this group. Guest guest
Hi!! I use a " Sprout Garden " tray sprouter which I got from a Whole Foods store. I like it alot. It's very durable and grows alot of sprouts. I love it best cause I can throw it in the dishwasher and it's just fine!! The directions said you could grow wheatgrass in it with soil though. Oh, and it works great for all size seeds. Have a great day!! Kitty --- Long <longc@...> wrote: > Hi and welcome to the group. I have a bioset and > don't like it. Guest guest
Hi from Texas, I have used a bioset sprouter for many years. While I'm not a gung ho sprouter and stick to the basic alfalfa, broccoli etc type seeds. I do try to have a fresh batch going all the time. As i have only used the bioset I can't compare different types of sprouters. I have found that if you tilt and drain the unit after the water that is left after it has siphoned off You should have good results. I have had excelent results with it. Take care and good luck, and happy new year, Rick from PR <mcl@...> wrote: Hi ALL! and Happy New Years! I am new to sprouting and to this group. Guest guest
Where did you get your biosta sprouter. I looked on but did not see it. Maybe I missed it. I looked in the kit section. JB Laurel Run Bird Farm (NJ)
Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for the kind words about being a stay at home mom; sometimes people talk down to me thinking i don't *do* anything.....besides taking care of the home i do have alot of hobbies. Though i long for a part time job at Whole Foods to be around like minded people and to get a discount on all that organic food i spend all our money on. Wow! Six kids! she gets NO rest, laugh out loud! I just ordered a sample package from the sprout people and i'll update everyone on how my sprouts turn out when i start! thanks for the advice, Chris <<Congratulations on being a stay at home mom. Guest guest
Thanks Everyone that replied to my Intro & Question. The tips are much appreciated! Guest guest
Didn't get it at Sproutpeople; although it looks/works similar to the bio-set offered at .
