Guest guest
It's bout time I started participating again. I've sprouted rice. You have to get short grain rice. The long grain has too much germ missing to sprout. It is slow getting started so be patient. Don't let it sprout too long or it goes bad. I think it took about 3 to 4 days for the sprout to grow the length of grain. I still had to cook it because it was too crunchy and starchy for my taste. Have fun. Guest guest
I think the type of rice has a lot to do with whether it sprouts or not. About 10 years ago I posted to a parrot groups list that I was soaking and sprouting brown rice for the " Fids " (feathered kids). Well everyone tried it and most had the same results you had. We all were in different parts of the country and world and used different types of rice. Try another type and btw, I left mine soaking in water all the time-thinking that I was creating a rice paddy n Rollings, PhD NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com 908-500-7295 Sent from my IPod Touch On Nov 11, 2010, at 7:54 AM, " mychildrenaresweet " <mychildrenaresweet@...> wrote: > Can someone help me? I'm trying to sprout my rice, but each time I do, it turns brown, smells bad and I throw it away. Two nights ago I soaked my rice for 24 hours and then just refrigerated it. It was bright white and a perfect consistancy and I'm going to eat it as is without sprouting it. But, my questions are, " Can rice sprout in a refrigerator or do I need to put it on the countertop (where it seems to be my problem because it is very warm in my house because the heat is on)? And also, does it lack nutritional value if it is just soaked and not sprouted? > Thank you, > Nikki > >
Guest guest
Isn’t white rice processed and refined and effectively dead? Or is there such a thing as raw white rice? If not, that is why they are rotting. I guess a little longer if the water was not warm..... M Oh btw... you can't sprout white rice
Guest guest
I never tried sprouting white rice for the reasons Lorri mentions. I know some brown rice will sprout-I am going food shopping tomorrow and have to buy brown rice-will try to sprout some and see what happens. My birds love it cooked or sprouted. n Rollings, PhD NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com 908-500-7295 Sent from my IPod Touch On Nov 11, 2010, at 5:55 PM, " Lorri \(WA\) " <raw@...> wrote: > Isn’t white rice processed and refined and effectively dead?
